Gospel of Luke_Chapter 13
At that moment, someone told Jesus about Pilate mixing the blood of the Galileans with their sacrifices.
Jesus said, Do you think these Galileans are more sinful than all the Galileans, and therefore have suffered this harm?
I tell you, it’s not true. If you do not repent, you will all perish like this.
Once upon a time, the Tower of Siloah collapsed and crushed eighteen people. Do you think those people were more guilty than all those who lived in Jerusalem?
I tell you, it’s not true. If you do not repent, you will all perish like this.
So, metaphorically speaking, a person has a fig tree planted in a vineyard. He came to the tree to find the fruit, but couldn’t find it.
And he said to the garden keeper, Look, I’ve been looking for fruit in front of this fig tree for the past three years, but I can’t find it. Cut it down. Why occupy land in vain?
The garden keeper said, Lord, let’s keep it this year until I dig up the soil around me and add manure.
If it bears fruit in the future, let it be. Otherwise, cut it down again.
On the Sabbath, Jesus taught in the synagogue.
There is a woman who has been possessed by ghosts for eighteen years. I can’t straighten my waist at all.
When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, Woman, you are free from this illness.
So he pressed her with both hands. She immediately straightened up and glorified God.
The ruler of the synagogue was angry because Jesus was healed on the Sabbath, and said to the people, “There are six days when work should be done.”. You can come for medical treatment within those six days, but not on the Sabbath.
The Lord said, O hypocrites, do not each of you untie the ox and donkey from the trough on the Sabbath and lead them away to drink?
Moreover, this woman is a descendant of Abraham and has been bound by Satan for eighteen years. Shouldn’t she be unbound on the Sabbath?
Jesus said these words, and all his enemies were ashamed. Everyone rejoiced because of all the glorious things he had done.
Jesus said, What is the kingdom of God like? What can I compare with?
It’s like a mustard seed, someone took it and planted it in the garden. Growing into a tree, the birds in the sky perch on its branches.
And he said, What shall I compare to the kingdom of God?
It’s like yeast, a woman takes it and hides it in three measures of flour, until the whole dough is fermented.
Jesus went to Jerusalem and taught in all the cities and towns he passed through.
A person asked him, “Lord, are there few who are saved?”?
Jesus said to the crowd, “Strive to enter the narrow door.”. I tell you, there will be many people in the future who want to go in, but cannot.
When the master of the house got up and closed the door, you stood outside and knocked on the door, saying, Lord, open the door for us. And he answered, I do not know you, I do not know where you come from.
At that time, you must say that we have eaten and drunk before you, and you have also taught people in our streets.
He wants to say, I tell you, I don’t know where you come from. All you wicked people, leave me.
You shall see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, yet you are driven out. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
From the east, from the west, from the south, from the north, someone will come and sit at the table in the kingdom of God.
Only those who are behind will be ahead, and those who are ahead will be behind.
At that moment, several Pharisees came to Jesus and said, “Get out of here.”. Because Herod wants to kill you.
Jesus said, Go and tell the fox, ‘Today and tomorrow I will drive out demons and heal, and on the third day my work will be completed.’.
Nevertheless, I must move forward today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow. Because it is impossible for a prophet to lose his life outside Jerusalem.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you often kill prophets and stone those who are sent to you. I have been willing to gather your children many times, like a hen gathering chicks under its wings, but you are unwilling.
See, your home has become a wasteland left for you. I tell you that from now on, you shall not see me again until you say, Blessed be he who comes in the name of the Lord.
