Gospel of Luke_Chapter 9

Jesus summoned twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to subdue all demons and heal all kinds of illnesses.

And he sent them to preach the way of the kingdom of God and heal the sick.

Tell them not to bring crutches or pockets, food or silver, or two coats when traveling.

No matter which house you enter, stay there and start from there.

As for anyone who does not receive you, when you leave that city, shake off the dust from your feet as a witness to their wrongdoing.

And the disciples went out, traveling throughout all the villages, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere.

When Herod the enfeoffed king heard of all that Jesus had done, he hesitated. Because some say it was John who was resurrected from the dead.

And some said, Elijah appeared. Some people say that a prophet from ancient times came back to life.

Herod said, I have already beheaded John, but who is this? How could I hear such a thing about him? I just want to see him.

The apostles returned and told Jesus what they had done. Jesus secretly took them away from there and went to a city called Bethsaida.

But when everyone found out, they followed him. Jesus received them and preached about the kingdom of God, healing those who needed healing.

As the sun was about to subside, the twelve disciples came to him and said, “Please disperse the crowd so that they can go to the surrounding villages to stay overnight and find food.”. Because this is a wilderness.

Jesus said, Give them food. His disciples said, “We only have five loaves and two fish.”. If we don’t buy food for these many people, it won’t be enough.

At that time, there were about five thousand people. Jesus said to his disciples, Ask them to sit down in rows, about fifty people in each row.

And the disciples did so, causing everyone to sit down.

Jesus took these five loaves and two fish, looked up at the sky, blessed them, broke them apart, and handed them to his disciples before the crowd.

They ate and were all full. Pack up the remaining fragments and fill twelve baskets.

When Jesus prayed himself, his disciples were also with him. Jesus asked them, “Who do they say I am?”.

They said, some say it’s John the Baptist. Someone said it was Elijah. Some people say that a prophet from ancient times came back to life.

Jesus said, Who do you say I am. Peter replied, “It is the Christ established by God.”.

Jesus sternly charged them not to tell anyone about this matter.

And he said, The Son of Man must suffer a great deal, be rejected by the elders, priests, and scribes, and be killed, and be resurrected on the third day.

Jesus said to the crowd again, “If anyone wants to follow me, let them give up themselves and take up their cross every day to follow me.”.

For anyone who wants to save their own life will lose their life or soul. Whoever loses their life for me will save it.

What is the benefit of a person who gains the whole world but loses themselves and loses themselves?

Anyone who considers me and my way shameful, the Son of Man in his own glory, and in the glory of the Father and the Holy Angels, will also consider that person shameful when he comes.

I tell you the truth, some who stand here will see the kingdom of God before they taste death.

After speaking these words, about eight days later, Jesus took Peter, John, and Jacob up the mountain to pray.

When he was praying, his face changed and his clothes were pure white and shining.

Suddenly, two people, Moses and Elijah, spoke to Jesus.

They appeared in glory and talked about the passing of Jesus, which he was about to accomplish in Jerusalem.

Peter and his companions fell asleep, and when they were sober, they saw the glory of Jesus and the two people standing with him.

As they were about to separate from Jesus, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here. We can build three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. He doesn’t know what he’s saying.

When he said these words, a cloud came to cover them. They are afraid when they enter the clouds.

A voice came out of the clouds, saying, This is my son, whom I have chosen. Listen to him.

The voice stopped and Jesus was alone there. In those days, the disciples did not mention anything they had seen, nor did they tell anyone.

The next day, when they came down from the mountain, many people welcomed Jesus.

One of them shouted, “Master, please take care of my son, because he is my only son.”.

He was caught by a ghost and suddenly shouted. The ghost drove him crazy again, foaming at his mouth, and hurting him heavily, making it difficult to leave him.

I have begged your disciples to drive out demons, but they cannot.

Jesus said, O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long will I be with you and endure you? Bring your son here.

Just as he was coming, the ghost knocked him down and made him go crazy heavily. Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, cured the child, and handed it over to his father.

Everyone was amazed by the power of God. When all the things that Jesus did were marveling at, whether it be power or glory, Jesus said to his disciples,

You need to keep these words in your ears. Because the Son of Man is about to be handed over to others.

They do not understand this, but the meaning is hidden, so that they cannot understand, and they dare not ask the meaning of this.

There was a discussion among the disciples about who would be the greatest.

Jesus saw the thoughts in their hearts and brought a child to stand beside him.

Tell them, whoever receives this child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me is the one who receives me. The smallest among you is the largest.

John said, Master, we saw a man driving out demons in your name, and we forbade him. Because he doesn’t follow you with us.

Jesus said, Do not prohibit him. Because those who cannot resist you are those who help you.

The day when Jesus was taken up was coming, and he decided to go to Jerusalem,

Then he sent messengers ahead of him. They arrived at a village in Samaria to prepare for him.

The people there did not receive him because he was heading towards Jerusalem.

His disciples, Jacob and John, saw it and said, Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, as Elijah did?

Jesus turned around and rebuked the two disciples, saying, You do not know what your hearts are.

The Son of Man did not come to destroy human life, but to save it. As he spoke, he went to another village (there is an ancient scroll with only the first sentence of 55 verses and the last sentence of 56 verses).

As they were walking, one of them said to Jesus, “Wherever you go, I will follow you.”.

Jesus said, Foxes have holes, birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to rest.

And he said to another man, Follow me, and he said, Lord, let me go first and bury my father.

Jesus said, Let the dead bury their dead. You just need to spread the teachings of the divine kingdom.

Another person said, Lord, I will follow you. But let me say goodbye to my family first.

Jesus said, Those who hold the plow in their hands and look back are not worthy of entering the kingdom of God.
