Gospel of Luke_Chapter 1

O Lord Theophilus, there are many who take up pens and write books, telling the things that have been accomplished among us, according to those who preach, who have seen them with their own eyes from the beginning and have brought them to us.

Since I have thoroughly examined these matters from the beginning, I have decided to write them to you in order,

Let you know that all the teachings you have learned are true.

In the time of King Herod of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah in the class of Abijah. His wife is a descendant of Aaron, named Elisabeth.

Both of them were righteous before God, following all the commandments and rituals of the Lord without any fault.

But there were no children, because Elizabeth did not give birth, and the two of them were old and old.

Zechariah served as a priest in the presence of God according to his orders,

Draw lots according to the priest’s rules to enter the main temple and burn incense.

When burning incense, all the people are praying outside.

An angel of the Lord stood on the right side of the altar of incense and appeared to him.

When Zechariah saw it, he was panicked and afraid.

The angel said to him, Zechariah, do not be afraid. Because your prayer has been heard, your wife Elizabeth will give birth to a son for you, and you will name him John.

You will be joyful and joyful, and many will rejoice because of his birth.

He will be great in the presence of the Lord, and will not drink any light or strong wine. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother’s womb.

He will bring many Israelites back to the Lord their God.

He will have the will and power of Elijah to walk before the Lord, turning the father’s heart to his children and the rebellious to the wisdom of the righteous. And the people who are prepared for sharing with the Lord.

Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I know this?”? I am already old, and my wife is also very old.

The angel replied, “I am Gabriel standing before God, sent to speak to you and bring you this good news.”.

At the time, this statement will surely come true. Because you do not believe, you will be mute and unable to speak until the day when this is accomplished.

The people waited for Zechariah and were surprised that he had been in the temple for a long time.

Until he comes out, he cannot speak to them. They knew he had seen a vision in the temple. Because he made a hand gesture directly at them, he turned mute.

His days at work were over, so he went home.

After these days, his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and hid for five months,

And he said, In the day when the Lord doth favor upon me, so shall he take away my shame among men.

In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth.

To a virgin, there was a man named Joseph who had already been betrothed to the family of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary.

The angel went in and said to her, ‘I greet you, the woman who has received great favor. The Lord is with you.’.

Mary was very alarmed by these words and repeatedly thought about what this greeting meant.

The angel said to her, Mary, don’t be afraid. You have already received grace before God.

If you want to conceive and have a child, you can name him Jesus.

He will be great and be called the son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.

He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His country is not endless either.

Mary said to the angel, “I am not married, how could this be?”?

The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.”. Therefore the Holy One to be born shall be called the Son of God. (Or that which shall be born shall be called holy, and shall be called the Son of God)

Moreover, your relative Elizabeth also conceived a male child in her old age. It’s the one who was known as infertile and is now six months pregnant.

Because of the word of God, there is no word without power.

Mary said, I am the servant of the Lord; may it be done on me according to your word. The angel left her.

At that time, Mary got up and hurriedly went into the mountains to a city in Judah.

Entering the house of Zechariah, greet Elizabeth.

As soon as Elizabeth heard Mary greet her, her womb leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Shouting loudly, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed are the fetuses you bear.”.

Where did my Lord’s mother come to me?

Because the sound of your greeting entered my ears, and the fetus in my womb jumped with joy.

The woman I believe in is blessed. Because everything that the Lord said to her will be fulfilled.

Mary said, “My heart regards the Lord greatly.”,

My spirit rejoices in God my Savior.

Because he cares about the lowliness of his maid. From now on, all generations will call me blessed.

That powerful person has accomplished great things for me. His name is Saint.

He has mercy on those who fear him for generations to come.

He exerted great power with his arms. The arrogant person was delusional in his heart and was driven away by him.

He calls the powerful to lose their position, and the lowly to ascend.

Call the hungry to eat delicious food, call the wealthy to return empty handed.

He helped his servant Israel,

To remember Abraham and his descendants, to show mercy forever, just as he said to our ancestors before.

Mary and Elizabeth stayed together for about three months before returning home.

When Elizabeth’s due date came, she gave birth to a son.

When neighbors and relatives heard the Lord’s great mercy towards him, they rejoiced with him.

On the eighth day, they came to circumcise the child. And he shall call him Zechariah after his father’s name.

His mother said, no. I want to call him John.

They said that there is no one among your relatives who calls this name.

They gestured to his father and asked him what name he wanted to call the child.

He asked for a writing board and wrote that his name was John. They were all amazed.

Zechariah’s mouth immediately opened, and his tongue spread out, and he spoke, praising God.

The people living around were all afraid, and all these things spread throughout the mountains of Judea.

And everyone who heard it put this matter in their hearts, saying, What will happen to this child in the future? Because the Lord is with him.

His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying,

Praise be to the God of the Lord Israel. Because he favored his people and redeemed them.

In the house of his servant David, he raised up the horn of salvation for us,

(As the Lord said through the mouth of the holy prophets since the creation of the world)

Save us from the hands of our enemies and all those who hate us.

Show mercy to our ancestors and remember his holy covenant.

It is the oath he made to our ancestor Abraham,

Let us be rescued from the hands of our enemies,

You can serve him with holiness and righteousness all your life in front of him without fear.

Child, you shall be called the prophet of the Most High. Because you must walk before the Lord and prepare his path.

Let his people be forgiven for their sins, and know salvation.

Because of the merciful heart of our God, who brought the morning sun from high heaven to us,

To illuminate those who sit in the shadow of death in the darkness. Guide our feet to a safe path.

The child gradually grew up, with a strong soul, and lived in the wilderness until the day when he appeared before the Israelites.
