Min Shu Ji_Chapter 36
Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, the descendant of Joseph, and the chiefs of his descendants came to Moses and the chiefs of the Israelites who were the leaders,
And he said, The Lord commanded my lord to divide the land by lot for the children of Israel, and my lord also received the Lord’s command to divide the inheritance of our brother Zelophehas among his daughters.
If they marry someone from another tribe of Israel, they will add the inheritance left by our ancestors to the inheritance of their husband’s tribe. In this way, the industry we draw lots for will be reduced.
In the year of the Jubilee of the Israelites, the inheritance of this daughter will be added to the inheritance of her husband’s tribe. In this way, the industries of our ancestral tribes have decreased.
Moses commanded the Israelites according to the word of the Lord, saying, The tribe of Joseph spoke rightfully.
As for the daughters of Zelophehas, the Lord commanded them, saying, They may marry as they please, but they shall marry from the same tribe.
In this way, the inheritance of the Israelites will not return from one tribe to another, because the Israelites will keep the inheritance of each ancestral tribe.
Every woman who obtains an inheritance among the tribes of Israel will be the wife of a fellow tribe, so that each Israelite may inherit the inheritance of their ancestors.
In this way, their inheritance will not return from one tribe to another, because the Israelites will each hold their own inheritance.
As the Lord commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad.
Mallah, Tirzah, Horah, Micah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, married their uncle’s son.
They married into the family of the children of Manasseh, the son of Joseph. Their industries still remain in the same lineage.
These are the commands and laws that the Lord commanded the Israelites through Moses on the plain of Moab by the Jordan River, opposite Jericho.
