Korah the son of Ezrah, the great grandson of Levi and the son of Kohath, and Dathan the son of Eliab, Abiram, and An the son of Bel, among the children of Reuben,

And the two hundred and fifty leaders of the Israelite assembly, who were selected by reputation, rose up together before Moses,

Gather and attack Moses and Aaron, saying, You have taken authority without authorization. Why do you elevate yourselves above the congregation of the Lord, who are all holy and the Lord is among them?

When Moses heard these words, he fell on his face to the ground,

And he said to Korah and his followers, In the morning, the Lord will show who belongs to him and who is holy, and let anyone come near him. Whoever he chooses will be brought near to him.

Korah, you must do this: you and your followers must bring incense burners.

Tomorrow, before the Lord, put fire in the furnace and put incense on it. Whoever the Lord chooses is holy. You descendants of Levi have monopolized power without authorization.

Moses said to Korah, “Listen to me, children of Levi.”.

The God of Israel separated you from the Israelite assembly, bringing you near him to do the work of the Lord’s tabernacle and standing before the assembly to serve them.

Is it a small thing that the Lord has brought you and all your brothers, the descendants of Levi, closer to him? Do you still demand the priesthood?

You and your party gathered to attack the Lord. What is Aaron, that you should complain against him?

Moses sent messengers to summon the sons of Eliab, Dathan and Abiram. They said we won’t go up.

Is it a small thing that you have brought us up from a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness? Will you also make yourself a king over us?

And you did not lead us to a land flowing with milk and honey, nor did you give us fields and vineyards as an inheritance. Do you want to gouge out the eyes of these people? We won’t go up.

Moses was very angry and said to the Lord, “Please do not enjoy their offering.”. I have not taken a donkey from them, nor have I harmed any of them.

Moses said to Korah, “Tomorrow, you, your followers, and Aaron will stand before the Lord.”.

Each person is to take a censer, two hundred and fifty in total, and put incense on it before the Lord. You and Aaron each take their own censers.

So each of them took a censer, filled it with fire, added incense, and stood at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting with Moses and Aaron.

Korah summoned all the congregation to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting to attack Moses and Aaron. The glory of the Lord appeared to all the congregation.

The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

You leave this congregation, so that I can exterminate them in the blink of an eye.

Moses and Aaron fell to the ground and said, “God, the God of the spirits of all men, will you be angry with all the assembly if one person sins?”?

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

Command the assembly, ‘Depart from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.’.

Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram. The elders of Israel also followed him.

He commanded the congregation, saying, Depart from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of their things, lest ye fall into their sins, and perish with them.

So everyone left the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram around. Datan and Abiram came out with their wives, children, and children, and stood at the entrance of their tents.

Moses said, All these things I have done were not done by my own will, but by the Lord who sent me to do them. There will be evidence for you to know.

If these people die no different from the world, or if their fate is the same as that of the world, then the Lord did not send me.

If the Lord creates a new thing, causing the earth to open its mouth and swallow them and all that belongs to them, causing them to fall alive into the underworld, then you will understand that these people have despised the Lord.

As soon as Moses finished speaking all these words, the ground under their feet opened up,

Swallow them and their families, as well as all the people and possessions belonging to Korah.

So they and all that belonged to them fell alive into the underworld. The mouth of the earth will remain closed above them, and they will perish from the assembly.

All the Israelites around them heard their cry and fled, saying, “I’m afraid the earth will also swallow us up.”.

And fire came out from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty people who offered incense.

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

Command Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, to pick up the censers from the fire and scatter the fire elsewhere, because those censers are holy.

Hammer the incense burners of those who commit crimes and harm their own lives into pieces, and use them to wrap the altar. Those incense burners were originally offered by them before the Lord, so they are holy and can be used as a sign for the Israelites.

So Eleazar the priest brought the bronze censer offered by the person who was burned, and they hammered it out to wrap it around the altar,

To commemorate the Israelites, so that no one other than the descendants of Aaron may come near and burn incense before the Lord, so that he may not suffer from Korah and his followers. This is as the Lord commanded through Moses.

The next day, all the Israelites complained to Moses and Aaron, saying, You have killed the people of the Lord.

When the assembly gathered to attack Moses and Aaron, they looked at the tent of meeting and saw that a cloud covered them, and the glory of the Lord appeared.

Moses and Aaron came to the Tent of Meeting.

The Lord commanded Moses, saying,

You leave this congregation, so that I can exterminate them in the blink of an eye. They both fell to the ground.

Moses said to Aaron, Take your censer, put the fire on the altar in it, add incense, and quickly bring it to the assembly to make an atonement for them. Because wrath has come out from the Lord, and the plague has already broken out.

Aaron brought it as Moses had said and ran to the assembly, only to find that the plague had already spread among the people. He added incense to make atonement for the people.

He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague came to an end.

Except for those who died due to the Korah incident, a total of 14700 people died from the plague.

Aaron returned to the entrance of the tent of meeting and went to Moses, and the plague had stopped.
