Jeremiah_Chapter 19
Thus says the Lord, Go and buy the potter’s clay jar, and take the elders of the people and the elders of the priests,
Go out to the valley of Hinnom, at the entrance of Horsi (which means tiles), and announce the words I have commanded you,
Say, King of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, listen to the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, says: I will bring disaster upon this place, and everyone who hears of it will have their ears ringing.
Because they and their ancestors, as well as the kings of Judah, have abandoned me and regarded this place as ordinary, burning incense to other gods they have never known before, and filling it with the blood of innocent people,
And he built the high places of Baal to burn his own sons in the fire as a burnt offering to Baal. This is not what I ordered, not what I mentioned, nor what my heart intended.
Therefore, the days are coming, and this place will no longer be called Tophet and the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but rather the Valley of Slaughter, says the Lord.
I will make the schemes of Judah and Jerusalem fail in this place, and I will also make them fall by the sword before their enemies, and under the hands of those who seek their lives. I will provide food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth with their corpses.
I will make this city a place of terror and ridicule. All those who pass by will be amazed and ridiculed by the calamity that has befallen this city.
I will make them eat the flesh of their own children and the flesh of their friends, when their enemies and those who seek their lives are besieged and in distress.
You need to break that bottle in front of the people who are going with you,
And he said to them, Thus says the Lord of hosts, I will shatter this people and this city, just as a man shatters a potter’s vessel, so that he cannot bolt it whole again. And people have to bury their bodies in Tophet, even if there is no place to bury them.
The Lord said, I will do this to this place and its inhabitants, making this city like Tophet.
The houses of Jerusalem and the palaces of the kings of Judah have been defiled, even the palaces where they burn incense to all the heavens and pour out offerings to other gods will be like Topheth.
Jeremiah returned from Topheth, the place where the Lord had sent him to prophesy, and stood in the courtyard of the Lord’s house, saying to the people,
This is what the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, has said: I will bring all the calamity that I have spoken upon this city and all its cities, because they are stiff necked and will not listen to my words.
