Jeremiah_Chapter 13
The Lord said to me, “Go and buy a linen belt to tie around your waist, and do not put it in water.”.
I bought a strap to tie my waist according to the word of the Lord.
The word of the Lord came to me the second time, saying,
Take the belt you have bought, which is the belt on your waist, and get up and go to the Euphrates River. Hide the belt in the rock cave there.
I will go and hide my belt by the river Euphrates, as the Lord has commanded me.
After many days, the Lord said to me, “Get up and go to the Euphrates River, and take out the belt that I commanded you to hide there.”.
I went to the Euphrates River and dug out my belt from where I was hiding. However, I saw that the belt had deteriorated and was of no use.
The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
Thus says the Lord, I will destroy the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.
This wicked people refuse to listen to my words and walk according to their own stubbornness, following other gods and serving and worshipping them. They will also become useless like this belt.
The Lord said, Just as a waistband clings to a man’s waist, so I will make all the house of Israel and all the house of Judah cling to me, so that they may be my people, so that I may receive fame, praise, and glory. But they refused to listen.
So you must say to them, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:’ Every altar must be filled with wine. ‘. They will say to you, Do we not know for sure that every altar will be filled with wine?
Then you shall say to them, This is what the Lord says: I will make all the inhabitants of this land, including the kings and priests who sit on the throne of David, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, drunk and drunk.
The Lord said, I will make them collide with each other, that is, the Father and the Son will collide with each other. I will not pity, spare, or show mercy, to the point of destroying them.
Listen, listen sideways. Don’t be proud, for the Lord has already said.
Before the Lord your God causes darkness to come, and before your feet stumble on the mountain of darkness, give glory to him. Lest you hope for light, who turns it into a shadow of death and darkness.
If you do not listen to these words, I will cry in secret because of your pride. My eyes will cry bitterly and shed tears, because the people of the Lord have been taken captive.
You must say to the king and the queen mother, ‘Humble yourselves and sit down below.’. Because your headscarves, which are your crowns, have fallen off.
All the cities in the south are closed and unopened. Judah was plundered, and the plunder was complete.
Lift up your eyes and see the people from the north. Where is the crowd that was previously given to you, your beautiful crowd, now?
What else can you say when the Lord sets your own friends as the leader and rules over you? Will not pain catch you like a woman in labor?
If you say in your heart, why have all these things come to me? Your collar is lifted, and your heel is injured because of your many sins.
How could ancient humans change their skin? How can a leopard change its spots? If possible, you who are accustomed to doing evil can do good.
So I will scatter them with the wind of the wilderness, like broken straw that has been blown away.
The Lord said, This is what you deserve, the portion I have measured for you. Because you forget me, relying on falsehood (or being an idol).
So I will lift up your collar, cover your face, and show your ugliness.
I have seen all your detestable acts of adultery, hissing, and committing adultery on the mountains of the fields. Woe to you, Jerusalem. How long until you refuse to be clean?
