Jeremiah_Chapter 17

Judah’s sins were recorded with an iron pen and a diamond, engraved on their hearts and on the corners of their altars.

Their children remember their altars and puppets on the high hills and by the green trees.

O mountains of my field, I will give your goods, treasures, and high places as plunder to my enemies for the sins you have committed within your borders.

And you will lose the inheritance I have given you because of your own sins. I will also make you serve your enemies in a land you do not know. Because you have caused me to catch fire in anger, burning forever.

This is what the Lord says: Woe to those who trust in the arm of flesh and blood, and abandon the Lord in their hearts.

For he will be like a juniper tree in the desert, not seeing joy come, but living in the wilderness and dry places, in the alkaline land where there is no one to dwell.

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord and regards him as reliable.

He will be like a tree planted by the water, rooted by the river, not afraid when the heat comes, and his leaves will remain green, without any worries in a year of drought, and will bear fruit without end.

The human heart is more deceitful than all things, and it is extremely evil. Who can understand it?

I, the Lord, am the one who examines the heart and tests the heart. I will reward each person according to their actions and the results of their actions.

Those who do not follow the right path to gain wealth are like partridges holding eggs that were not laid by themselves. In middle age, all that wealth will leave him, and he will eventually become a foolish person.

Our sanctuary is a throne of glory, set high from the beginning.

O Lord, the hope of Israel, all who abandon you will be ashamed. The Lord said, Those who leave me will have their names written in the soil, because they have abandoned me, the spring of living water.

O Lord, heal me, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved. Because you are what I praise.

They said to me, Where is the word of the Lord? Let this be true.

As for me, I did not hastily abandon my position as a shepherd following you, nor did I consider the days of disaster. This is what you know. All the words that come out of my mouth are in front of you.

Don’t make me panic because of you. On the day of disaster, you are my refuge.

May those who persecute me be ashamed, but do not make me ashamed. Make them tremble, but do not make me tremble. Bring the day of calamity upon them, and destroy them with double destruction.

The Lord said to me, “Go and stand at the entrance of the people, the gates where the kings of Judah enter and exit, and at the gates of Jerusalem.”,

And he said to them, Hear the word of the Lord, you kings of Judah and all the people of Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, who enter through these gates.

This is what the Lord says: Be careful not to bear any burden on the Sabbath and enter the gates of Jerusalem.

Do not carry a burden from your home on the Sabbath. No work shall be done, but the Sabbath shall be holy, as I commanded your ancestors.

But they did not listen, did not tilt their ears and listen, but hardened their necks and did not listen, and did not receive teaching.

The Lord said, If you pay attention and obey me, and do not bear any burden on the Sabbath to enter the gates of this city, but make the Sabbath holy, and do no work on that day.

At that time, there will be kings and leaders sitting on the throne of David, who will enter the gates of this city with the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, whether by chariot or horse, and this city will endure forever.

And there will also be people from all the cities of Judah and from all around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the high plateau, from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, peace offerings, grain offerings, frankincense, and thanksgiving offerings to the temple of the Lord.

If you do not listen to me and do not sanctify the Sabbath, but still bear the burden on the Sabbath and enter the gates of Jerusalem, I will set fire to them. This fire will also burn down the palaces of Jerusalem and cannot be extinguished.
