Jeremiah_Chapter 18
The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,
Get up and go down to the potter’s house, where I will make you listen to me.
I went down to the potter’s house and encountered him spinning a vessel.
The vessel made of clay by the potter was damaged in his hand, and he used this clay to make another vessel. The potter will do as he sees fit.
The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
The Lord said, O house of Israel, cannot I treat you like this potter who makes mud? O house of Israel, as clay is in the hands of the potter, so are you in my hands.
When did I say about a nation or a nation, ‘uproot, demolish, destroy.’.
If the nation that I have spoken of turns away from their evil, I will repent and not bring upon them the calamity that I desire to do.
When do I talk about a country or a nation, saying that it should be established and planted.
If they do what is evil in my eyes and do not listen to my words, I will repent and not give them the blessings I have spoken of.
Now say to the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, This is what the Lord says: I have caused disaster against you and have determined to punish you. Turn back each of you from your evil ways and correct your actions and actions.
But they said, this is in vain. We must follow our own strategy. Everyone follows their own stubbornly disgusting behavior.
Therefore, thus says the Lord, Go and visit all the countries, and who will hear such things. The virgin of Israel has committed an extremely detestable act.
Can the snow of Lebanon be cut off from the rocks of the field? How can the cold water flowing from afar dry up?
But my people have forgotten me, burning incense to false gods, causing them to stumble in the ancient ways on their way, causing them to walk in the crooked paths that have not been built,
So that their land is terrifying, often mocking. Anyone who passes through this land will be horrified and shake their heads.
I will scatter them in front of my enemies, just as I scatter them with an east wind. In the day of trouble, I will turn my back to them and not face them.
They said, come on. We can design a plot to harm Jeremiah. For we have priests preaching the law, wise men strategizing, and prophets prophesying, which cannot be cut off. Come on. We can hit him with our tongue and ignore all his words.
O Lord, pay attention to me and listen to the words of those who compete with me.
How can evil repay good? They dug a pit to harm my life. Remember how I stood before you to intercede for them, so that your anger may turn away from them.
Therefore, may you hand over their children to famine and the sword. May their wives be childless and widowed. May their men be destroyed by death, and their young men be killed by the sword in battle.
When you make the enemy suddenly come upon them, may they hear a cry coming from their houses. For they dig a pit to catch me, and set a hidden net to trip up my feet.
O Lord, you know all their schemes to kill me. Do not forgive their sins, nor blot out their sins from before you, let them fall before you. May you punish them when you are angry.
