Jeremiah_Chapter 27

When Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah the king of Judah, ascended to the throne, these words came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

The Lord said to me, “Make ropes and yokes, and put them on your neck.”,

By the hands of the envoys who came to Jerusalem to see King Zedekiah of Judah, they brought ropes and yokes to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre, and Sidon,

And he commanded the princes to proclaim to their masters, saying, Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:,

I created the earth and its people and livestock with my great power and outstretched arm. I’ll give the land to whoever suits me.

Now I have given all these lands into the hands of my servant Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and I have given him the beasts of the field to use.

All nations will serve him and his children and grandchildren until the day of their own nation’s retribution comes. At that time, many nations and great kings will make him their servant.

No matter which country or nation refuses to serve Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, or puts his neck under his yoke, I will punish them with the sword, famine, and plague, until I destroy them by the hand of the king of Babylon. This is what the Lord has said.

As for you, do not listen to your prophets, diviners, dreamers, diviners, or practitioners of sorcery. They tell you that you will not serve the king of Babylon.

They prophesied falsely to you, to cause you to move away from your own land, so that I may drive you out and cause you to perish.

But if any nation is willing to put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will cause that nation to remain in its own land, to be cultivated and inhabited. This is what the Lord has said.

I said to King Zedekiah of Judah, ‘Put your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him and his people, and you will live.’.

Why should you and your people die by the sword, famine, and plague, as the Lord said about the kingdom that did not serve the king of Babylon?

Do not listen to what those prophets say to you. They said, You will not serve the king of Babylon, but in fact they prophesied falsely to you.

The Lord said, I did not send them, but they prophesied falsely in my name, so that I may drive you and the prophets who prophesied to you out and perish together.

And I said to the priests and all these people, This is what the Lord says: Do not listen to the prophecy that the prophet has spoken to you. They said, The vessels of the house of the Lord are about to be brought back from Babylon. Actually, they told you false prophecies.

Do not listen to them, just serve the king of Babylon and you will survive. How could this city become a wasteland?

If they are prophets, the word of the Lord will come to them, asking them to pray to the Lord of hosts, so that the remaining vessels in the house of the Lord, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem will not be brought to Babylon.

For the Lord of hosts has spoken of the pillars, the sea of bronze, the base of the basin, and the vessels that remain in this city,

This is the vessel that Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, did not take away when he abducted Jeconiah, the son of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem.

As for the vessels that remain in the house of the Lord, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:,

I will be brought to Babylon and remain there until the day I visit the Israelites. At that time, I will bring back this vessel and return it to this place. This is what the Lord has said.
