Jeremiah_Chapter 22
Thus says the Lord, Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and speak these words there,
Say, O King of Judah, who sits on the throne of David, listen to the word of the Lord, you and your servants, and the people who enter the city gates.
This is what the Lord says: Do justice and righteousness, save the plundered from the hands of oppressors, do not mistreat the sojourners, orphans, and widows, do not oppress them, and do not shed innocent blood in this place.
If you do this seriously, then a king sitting on the throne of David and his servants and people will enter through the gates of this city, either by chariot or horse.
If you do not listen to these words, says the Lord, as I swear by myself, this city will become desolate.
This is what the Lord says about the house of the king of Judah: I have seen you as Gilead and as the top of Lebanon. However, I will make you a wilderness, a city uninhabited.
I will prepare those who will destroy you, each with his weapons to attack you. They will cut down your beautiful cedar tree and throw it into the fire.
Many nations will pass through this city, and everyone will say to their neighbors, ‘Why did the Lord do this to this great city?’?
They will answer, ‘Because they have abandoned the covenant of the Lord their God and have served and worshipped other gods.’.
Don’t cry over the dead. Don’t be sad for him, but cry for those who are away from home. Because he cannot come back again, nor can he see his own country again.
For the Lord has spoken of Shallum the son of Josiah the king of Judah (2 Kings 23:30: Jehoahaz), who went out of this place and succeeded his father Josiah as king, saying, He shall not return to this place again,
But he will die in the place where he was taken captive, and he will not see this land again.
Woe to those who build houses unjustly, build buildings unfairly, and use human labor without paying wages.
He said, “I want to build a spacious house, a spacious building, and open windows for myself.”. The wall panels of this building are made of cedar wood, and the building is painted in red.
Do you, as a king, care about building cedar buildings to win? Isn’t your father also eating and drinking, and practicing fairness and justice? At that time, he received happiness.
He avenged the poor and needy, and at that time he found happiness. Do you know me and don’t care about this? This is what the Lord has said.
Only your eyes and heart are dedicated to greed, shedding innocent blood, and engaging in oppression and rape.
Therefore, this is what the Lord has said about Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah: No one will mourn for him, saying, Alas. My brother. Or, to put it another way, it’s sad. My sister. I will not mourn for him, saying, Alas. My Lord. Or, to put it another way, it’s sad. My lord’s glory.
He was buried like a donkey, to be pulled out and thrown outside the gates of Jerusalem.
Go up to Lebanon and mourn, raise your voice in Bashan, and mourn from Abarim, because all your beloved ones have been destroyed.
When you are prosperous, I speak to you. But you said, I don’t listen. You have been like this since you were young, not listening to me.
Your shepherds will be devoured by the wind, and your beloved will be taken captive. At that time you will be ashamed and ashamed for all your evil.
You who live in Lebanon and build a nest on the cedar tree, how pitiful you were when pain came upon you, like pain upon a woman in labor.
The Lord has said, “Even though it is the ring with the seal on my right hand, I swear by my eternal life that I will pluck you from Koniah son of King Jehoiakim of Judah.”,
And I will deliver you into the hands of those who seek your life and those whom you fear, the hands of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and the Chaldeans.
I will also drive you and your mother who gave birth to you to another country, not the place where you were born. You will die there,
But if I really want to return to the place in my heart, I will not be able to return.
Is Konya a vessel that has been looked down upon and damaged? Is it a vessel that nobody likes? Why were he and his descendants driven to places they didn’t know?
O earth, earth, earth, listen to the word of the Lord.
Thus says the Lord, Write that this man is considered childless and will not prosper throughout his life. For none of his descendants prospered, able to sit on the throne of David and govern Judah.
