Gospel of John_Chapter 18

After Jesus had said these words, he went out with his disciples and crossed the Kidron River, where there was a garden. He and his disciples went in.

Judas, who betrayed Jesus, also knew the place. Because Jesus and his disciples often went there to gather.

Judah led a group of soldiers, along with the chief priests and Pharisees, and brought lanterns, torches, and weapons to the garden.

Jesus, knowing all the things that were about to come upon him, came out and said to them, Who are you looking for?

They answered, ‘Find Jesus the Nazarene.’. Jesus said, I am. Judah, who sold him, also stood with them.

As soon as Jesus said, “I am,” they retreated and fell to the ground.

He asked them again, “Who are you looking for?”? They said, Find Jesus the Nazarene.

Jesus said, I have told you that I am. If you’re looking for me, let these people go.

This will fulfill Jesus’ previous words, saying, ‘I have not lost any of the people you have given me.’.

Simon Peter, carrying a sword, drew it and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name is Malegu.

Jesus said to Peter, “Put the sword in its sheath.”. Can I not drink the cup that my father gave me?

The army, the commander, and the Jewish officers captured Jesus and bound him.

Bring it to Ana first. Because Ana was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest, this year.

This is Caiaphas, who once preached to the Jews, saying that it is beneficial for one person to die for the people.

Simon Peter followed Jesus, and one of his disciples followed. That disciple is known to the high priest. He then entered the courtyard of the high priest with Jesus.

Peter stood outside the door. The disciple whom the high priest knew came out and spoke to the gatekeeper, and then brought Peter in.

The gatekeeper said to Peter, Aren’t you also a disciple of this man? He said, I’m not.

The servants and servants, because it was cold, lit a charcoal fire and stood there to warm themselves. Peter also stood with them warming the fire.

The high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teachings.

Jesus answered, “I have always spoken openly to men.”. I often teach in the synagogue and temple, where the Jews gather. I was in the dark and didn’t say anything.

Why did you ask me? You can ask the person who heard me what I said to them. They all know what I’m saying.

After Jesus had said these words, a servant standing beside him slapped him and said, “Are you answering the high priest like this?”?

Jesus said, “If what I said is not true, you can prove that it is not true.”. If what I’m saying is, why did you hit me?

Anas then led Jesus to Caiaphas the high priest, still bound and led him away.

Simon Peter was standing by the fire, and someone said to him, Aren’t you also his disciple? Peter denied it and said, I am not.

A servant of the high priest, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, said, Did I not see you with him in the garden?

Peter refused to admit it again. The rooster immediately crowed.

The crowd escorted Jesus from Caiaphas to the yamen. It was still early at that time. But if they themselves do not enter the yamen, they may be contaminated and unable to eat the Passover feast.

Pilate then went out to them and said, “What are you accusing this man of?”?

They replied, “If this person didn’t do evil, we wouldn’t have handed him over to you.”.

Pilate said, Take him yourselves and judge him according to your law. The Jews said, We have no authority to kill.

This will fulfill what Jesus said about how he will die.

Pilate entered the yamen again and called Jesus, saying to him, Are you the king of the Jews?

Jesus answered and said, Did you say these things yourself, or did others say them to you about me?

Pilate said, Am I a Jew? Your own people and chief priests, hand you over to me. What did you do?

Jesus replied, “My kingdom does not belong to this world.”. If my kingdom belongs to this world, my servants will fight, so that I will not be handed over to the Jews. It’s just that my country doesn’t belong to this world.

Pilate said to him, “Are you a king?”? Jesus replied, “You say I am a king.”. I was born for this and came to this world to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth, listen to my words.

Pilate said, “What is truth?”? After saying these words, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, I cannot find any guilt in him.

But you have a rule that during the Passover, you want me to release one person for you. Do you want me to release the king of the Jews for you?

They shouted again, ‘Don’t want this person, want Barabbas.’. This Barabba is a bandit.
