Gospel of John_Chapter 16
I have told you these things so that you will not fall.
People will drive you out of the synagogue. And the time is coming, and anyone who kills you will think they are serving God.
They did this because they had never known the Father or me.
I’m telling you this so that when it’s time, you can remember what I told you. I did not tell you about this at first, because I am with you.
Now I am going to my father who sent me. No one among you asked me, where are you going?
Because I have told you this, your hearts are filled with sorrow.
However, I will tell you the truth. It would be beneficial for me to go. If I don’t go, Bao Hui Shi won’t come to you. If I go, I’ll send him over.
And when he comes, he will make the world sin, righteousness, and judgment, and rebuke himself.
For sin, it is because they do not believe in me.
For righteousness is because I go to my Father, and you will not see me again.
For judgment, it is because the king of this world has been judged.
I have many more things to tell you, but you cannot take on (or understand) them now.
Only when the Holy Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you to understand all the truth. Because he did not speak on his own, but spoke out everything he heard. And I will tell you about the future.
He wants to honor me. Because he wants to tell you what he has received from me.
Everything that the Father has is mine, so I say, He will tell you what he has received from me.
Before long, you won’t be able to see me. Wait a little longer, you still have to see me.
A few disciples said to each other, “He said to us, ‘You won’t be able to see me soon.'”. Wait a little longer, you still have to see me. And he said, Because I am going to my father. What does this mean?
The disciples said to each other, “What does he mean by saying, ‘Wait not long,’ after all?”? We don’t understand what he said.
Jesus saw that they were going to ask him, and said, “I said, ‘Wait a little longer, you won’t be able to see me. Wait a little longer, you will still see me.'”. Do you ask each other about these words?
Truly, I tell you the truth, you will cry and mourn, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.
When a woman gives birth, she worries because her time has come. After giving birth to a child, I no longer remember the pain, because I rejoice that a person has been born in the world.
You are also worried now. But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice. No one can take away this joy.
On that day, you won’t ask me anything. Truly, I tell you the truth, if you ask anything from the Father, he will give it to you in my name.
You have never asked for anything in my name, but now if you ask, you will receive it, so that your joy may be fulfilled.
I told you these things through metaphors. The time is coming, and I will no longer speak to you in metaphors, but will clearly tell you the Father.
On that day, you shall pray in my name. I’m not saying to you, I want to ask my father for you.
The Father himself loves you, because you have already loved me and believe that I came out of the Father.
I came out of my father and into the world. I left the world again and went to my father.
His disciples said, Now that you speak plainly, there is no need for a parable.
Now we know that you know everything, and no one needs to ask you. Therefore, we believe that you came from God.
Jesus said, Do you believe now?
See, the time is coming, and it has already arrived. Scatter yourselves and go each to your own place, leaving me alone. Actually, I am not alone because my father is with me.
I am telling you these things so that you may have peace within me. You have suffering in this world. But you can rest assured that I have already won the world.
