Nehemiah_Chapter 7

After the city wall was repaired, I installed the doors, and the gatekeepers, singers, and Levites were all appointed.

I will appoint my brother Hanani and the commander of the camp Hananiah to oversee Jerusalem. Because Hananiah was faithful and feared God more than all.

I commanded them to wait until the sun rises before opening the gates of Jerusalem. When people are still guarding, they must close the door and bolt it. Assign the residents of Jerusalem to guard the area opposite their houses according to their shifts.

The city is vast, but its people are scarce, and houses have not yet been built.

My God moved my heart and gathered nobles, officials, and the people to calculate according to genealogy. I am looking for the genealogy of the person who came up for the first time, which is written on it.

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who had previously abducted people from the province of Judah, now their descendants have returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each returning to their own city.

They returned together with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Rami, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bishan, Mizpil, Bigvai, Nihon, and Barnah.

Those who came up from Temirah, Tehazah, Kerud, Aton, and Immai cannot indicate whether their genealogy belongs to the Israelites.

They are the descendants of Deliah, Tobiah, and Nicoda, a total of 642.

Among the priests, the descendants of Habayah, the descendants of Hakoz, and the descendants of Barzillai. Because their ancestors married the daughter of Barzillai, a Gilead, they named her Barzillai.

The people of these three families searched their genealogies but could not find them, so they were considered unclean and were not allowed to serve as priests.

The governor said to them, “Do not eat the most holy things until the priests who are determined to use Urim and Tuming rise up.”.

There were a total of 42360 members of the congregation.

In addition, there were 737 of their maids and maids, as well as 245 male and female singers.

They have 736 horses and 245 mules,

435 camels and 6720 donkeys.

Some tribal chiefs donated to the project. The governor donated one thousand darlings of gold, fifty bowls, and five hundred and thirty pieces of priest’s robes from the treasury.

And there was also the chief of the clan who donated twenty thousand dariques of gold and two thousand two hundred minahs of silver to the engineering treasury.

The rest of the people donated twenty thousand taels of gold, two thousand minahs of silver, and sixty-seven priests’ robes.

So the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, some of the people, Nethinim, and all Israel lived in their own cities.
