Nehemiah_Chapter 4

When Sanballat heard that we were building the city walls, he was angry and greatly indignant, mocking the Jews.

And he said to his brothers and the army of Samaria, What do these weak Jews do? Do you want to protect yourself? Do you want to offer sacrifices? Do you want to succeed in one day? Do you want to take out the burnt stones from the mound and then erect the wall?

And Tobiah the Ammonite stood by, saying, The stone wall they have built, even the fox will go up?? Invert.

O our God, hear, for we are despised. Bring their slander upon their heads, and let them be plundered in the land of captivity.

Do not cover up their sins, do not let their sins be smeared before you, for they provoke your anger in the sight of the builders.

In this way, when we build the city walls, they will all be connected, up to half the height, because the people are focused on their work.

When Sanballa, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard about the construction of the walls of Jerusalem and began to block the broken areas, they were very angry.

Everyone conspired to attack Jerusalem, causing chaos within the city.

However, we pray to our God, and because of them, we send someone to guard us day and night.

The Jews said, There is still a lot of dust, and the strength of those who carry it has declined, so we cannot build the city wall.

Our enemies say, while they are unaware and invisible, we will enter among them, kill them, and put an end to their work.

The Jews who lived near the enemy came to us ten times from all places, saying, You will surely return to us.

So I have caused the people to stand in the low and empty space behind the city wall, each according to their clan, with swords, spears, and bows.

After examining it, I stood up and said to the nobles, officials, and the others, Don’t be afraid of them. Remembering the Lord is great and terrifying. Fight for your brothers, children, wives, and property.

When the enemy heard that we knew their intentions, and saw that God also destroyed their plans, they did not come. We all returned to the city wall and did our own work.

From that day on, half of my servants worked, while the other half carried spears, shields, bows, and armor. The officials stood behind the people of Judah.

Those who build city walls and carry materials are all skilled in one hand and armed with weapons in the other.

The builders all wear swords around their waists, while the horn blowing person is next to me.

I said to the nobles, officials, and others, This project is vast, and we are far apart on the city wall.

Wherever you hear the sound of the horn, gather together with us. Our God will fight for us.

So, we worked, half carrying weapons, from dawn until the stars appeared.

At that time, I said to the people, ‘Everyone and his servants should stay in Jerusalem, so that they may guard us at night and work during the day.’.

In this way, neither my brothers and servants, nor my guards who followed me, took off their clothes and went out to fetch water with weapons.
