Joash and his wet nurse were hidden in the temple of the Lord for six years. Athaliah usurped the throne.

In the seventh year, Jehoiada sent for the Chalites and the captains of hundreds of guards to bring them into the temple of the Lord, and made a covenant with them to swear in the temple of the Lord. He also showed the king’s son to them,

The priest then handed over the spear and shield of King David, which were hidden in the temple of the Lord, to the centurion.

The guards held weapons in their hands and stood around the prince from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, from the altar and the temple.

The priest brought out the prince, put a crown on him, gave him the Book of the Law, and anointed him as king. And they clapped their hands and said, May the king live forever.

When Athaliah heard the voice of the guard and the people, he went to the people and entered the temple of the Lord,

The priest Jehoiada ordered the centurion who was in charge of the army, saying, Drive her out of the camp, and anyone who follows her will be killed with the sword. Because the priest said not to kill her in the temple of the Lord,

The soldiers dodged and let her go. She went to the palace on the road and was killed there.

Jehoiah made a covenant with the king and the people to be the people of the Lord. And he made a covenant between the king and the people.

So all the people went to the temple of Baal, demolished it, smashed the altar and statue, and killed Maatan, the priest of Baal, in front of the altar. The priest Jehoiada appointed officials to guard the temple of the Lord,

He also led the centurion, the Chalites, and the guards, as well as all the people of the land, to invite the king to come down from the temple of the Lord and enter the palace through the gate of the guards. He then sat on the throne.

The people are all happy, and the whole city is quiet. The people have killed Athaliah with the sword at the palace.
