nd Kings _Chapter 15
In the twenty seventh year of King Jeroboam of Israel, Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah began to reign,
He was sixteen years old when he ascended to the throne and reigned in Jerusalem for fifty-two years. His mother’s name is Jecoliah, and she is from Jerusalem.
Azariah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Amaziah did.
However, the mounds have not been abolished yet, and the people are still offering sacrifices and burning incense there.
The Lord brought disaster on the king, causing him to develop leprosy until the day of his death, and he stayed in another palace. His son Jotan was in charge of household affairs and governed the people.
And all the other things that Azariah did, and all that he did, are written in the book of the kings of Judah.
Azariah slept with his ancestors and was buried with them in the city of David. His son Jotham succeeded him as king.
In the thirty eighth year of King Azariah of Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam reigned over Israel in Samaria for six months.
He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, following the ways of his ancestors and not turning away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.
Shallum, the son of Jabesh, betrayed him and killed him in front of the people, usurping his throne.
The rest of Zechariah’s events are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
This is what the Lord promised Jehu before, saying, Your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel until the fourth generation. This statement has indeed come true.
In the thirty ninth year of King Uzziah of Judah (also known as Azariah), Shallum, the son of Jabesh, began to reign in Samaria for one month.
Menahem, the son of Gadi, went up from Tirzah to Samaria and killed Shallum, the son of Jabesh, usurping his throne.
The other events of Sharon and his betrayal are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
At that time, Menahem attacked Tiphthah and its surrounding areas from Tirzah, killing all the people in the city and cutting open all the pregnant women because they had not opened the city for him.
In the 39th year of Azariah the king of Judah, Menahem the son of Gadi began to reign over Israel in Samaria for ten years.
He did evil in the eyes of the Lord and never left the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.
King Pul of Assyria came to attack the kingdom of Israel, and Menahem gave him a thousand talents of silver to help him establish his throne.
Menahem demanded fifty shekels of silver from all the wealthy Israelites, and gave it to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria returned and did not stay in the land.
And all the other things that Menahem did were written in the book of the kings of Israel.
Minah slept with his ancestors. His son Bekahiah succeeded him as king.
In the fifty year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekahiah son of Menahem began to reign over Israel in Samaria for two years.
He did evil in the eyes of the Lord and did not turn away from the sin of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.
Bekah, the general of Bekah, the son of Remaliah, betrayed him and killed him in the palace guard of Samaria. Argob, Ariah, and fifty people from Gilead helped Pekah. Biga killed him and usurped his position.
And all the other things that Bekahiah did were written in the book of the kings of Israel.
In the fifty second year of King Azariah of Judah, Pekah son of Remaliah began to reign over Israel in Samaria for twenty years.
He did evil in the eyes of the Lord and did not turn away from the sin of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.
During the reign of King Pekah of Israel, King Tiglath Pileser of Assyria came and took away Eyun, Abel Maacah, Arno, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, Galilee, and all the land of Naphtali, and took all the inhabitants of these places captive to Assyria.
In the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah, Hoshea the son of Elah rebelled against Pekah the son of Remaliah, killed him, and usurped his throne.
And all the other things that Bekah did were written in the book of the kings of Israel.
In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah began to reign.
He was twenty-five years old when he ascended to the throne and reigned in Jerusalem for sixteen years. His mother’s name is Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.
Jotham did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Uzziah had done.
However, the mounds have not been abolished yet, and the people are still offering sacrifices and burning incense there. Jotham established the gate of the temple of the Lord.
And all the other things that Jotham did were written in the book of the kings of Judah.
In those days, the Lord sent King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah to attack Judah.
Jotham slept with his ancestors and was buried with their graves in the city of David. His son Ahaz succeeded him as king.
