nd Kings _Chapter 8

Elisha once said to the woman who saved her son, ‘Get up, you and your whole family, and go where you can live, because the Lord has ordered famine to come on this land for seven years.’.

The woman stood up and took her whole family with her to the land of the Philistines according to the word of the man of God, and stayed there for seven years.

After seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines and went out to mourn for her house and land to the king.

At that time, the king was speaking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.

Kihazi told the king how Elisha resurrected the dead, and coincidentally, the woman her son’s wife came to mourn the king for her house and land, which Elisha had saved. And Gehazi said, My lord the king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha has saved.

The king asked the woman, and she told the king about it. So the king sent a eunuch for her, saying, Give back everything that belongs to this woman, and from her departure from her land until this day, all the produce of her field will be returned to her.

Elisha came to Damascus, and King Benhadad of Aram was sick. Someone told the king that the divine man had come here.

And the king commanded Hazael, saying, Bring a gift to the man of God, and ask him to inquire of the Lord, whether I may recover from this illness.

So Hazael went to Elisha with forty camels, carrying all the beautiful things of Damascus as gifts. When he arrived at him, he stood in front of him and said, “Your son, King Benhadad of Aram, has sent me to see you.” He asked, ‘Can I recover from this illness?’.

Elisha said to Hazael, ‘Go back and tell him that this disease will surely heal.’. But the Lord has instructed me that he will surely die.

The divine man fixed his gaze on Haxue, causing him to feel ashamed. The divine man cried.

Hazael said, Why is my lord crying. And he answered, Because I know that you will afflict the Israelites, burn their strongholds with fire, kill their young men with the sword, throw their infants to death, and cut open their pregnant women.

Haxue said, “What is your servant? He’s just a dog, how can he do such a great thing?”? Elisha replied, “The Lord has shown me that you will become king of Aram.”.

Hazael left Elisha and returned to meet his master. The master asked him, “What did Elisha say to you?”. Answer: He told me that you must be able to recover.

The next day, Hazael soaked his bed in water and covered the king’s face, and the king died. So Hazael usurped his throne.

In the fifth year of Jehoram son of Ahab king of Israel, while Jehoshaphat king of Judah was still in power, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat began to reign as king of Judah.

Joram was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem for eight years.

He did what the kings of Israel did, just like the house of Ahab. Because he married the daughter of Ahab and did evil in the eyes of the Lord.

But the Lord refused to destroy Judah because of his servant David, and gave a light to his descendants forever, as he promised David.

During the reign of Joram, the Edomites rebelled against Judah and withdrew from his authority, establishing their own king.

Joram led all his chariots to Zai and rose up at night to attack the Edomites and the chariot commanders who were besieging him. The soldiers of Judah fled and went back to their respective homes.

So the Edomites rebelled against Judah and escaped from his authority until today. At that time, the people of Lina also betrayed.

And all the other things that Jehoram did, and all that he did, are written in the book of the kings of Judah.

Joram slept with his ancestors and was buried with them in the city of David. His son Ahaziah succeeded him as king.

In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Joram king of Judah began to reign.

He was twenty-two years old when he ascended to the throne and reigned in Jerusalem for one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of King Omri of Israel.

Ahaziah did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just like the Ahab family, because he was the son-in-law of the Ahab family.

He went with Joram son of Ahab to Ramoth Gilead to fight against Hazael king of Aram. The Arameans wounded Joram,

King Joram returned to Jezreel and healed the wounds he had while fighting against King Hazael of Aram in Ramoth. Ahaziah, the son of King Joram of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visit him because his son Joram was sick.
