nd Kings _Chapter 2
When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven with a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha went from Gilgal.
Elijah said to Elisha, “The Lord has sent me to Bethel, so stay here.”. Elisha said, As the Lord liveth, and as I swear before you, I will not leave you. So the two of them went down to Bethel.
The disciples of the prophet who lived in Bethel came out to Elisha and said to him, Do you know that the Lord will take your master away from you today. He said, I know, please don’t speak up.
Elijah said to Elisha, “The Lord has sent me to Jericho, so stay here.”. Elisha said, As the Lord liveth, and as I swear before you, I will not leave you. So the two of them arrived at Jericho.
The prophetic disciples who lived in Jericho approached Elisha and said to him, Do you know that the Lord will take your master away from you today. He said, I know, please don’t speak up.
Elijah said to Elisha, “The Lord has sent me to the Jordan River. Stay here and wait.”. Elisha said, As the Lord liveth, and as I swear before you, I will not leave you. So the two of them went together.
Fifty prophetic disciples went and stood far away from them. The two stood by the Jordan River.
Elijah rolled up his coat and used it to draw water. The water was divided left and right, and the two of them walked on dry ground.
After passing by, Elijah said to Elisha, “I have not been taken away from you. What do you want me to do for you? Just ask me.”. Elisha said, May your spirit touch me twice as much.
Elijah said, What you are seeking is rare. Nevertheless, when I am taken away from you, if you see me, you will surely receive it. Otherwise, we won’t have to.
They were walking and talking when suddenly a train, fire, and horse separated them, and Elijah took a whirlwind and ascended to heaven.
Elisha saw it and called out, “My father.”. My father. The chariots and cavalry of Israel. I won’t see him again in the future. So Elisha tore his clothes into two pieces.
He picked up the coat that had fallen off Elijah’s body and went back to stand by the Jordan River.
He drew water from the coat that had fallen off Elijah’s body and said, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?”? After fetching water, the water also separated left and right, and Elisha came over.
The prophetic disciples who lived in Jericho saw him from across the street and said, “The inspiration that moved Elijah moved Elisha.”. They came to meet him and fell to the ground in front of him,
And he said to him, There are fifty strong men among the servants here. Let them go and search for your master, or perhaps the Spirit of the Lord will lift him up and cast him into a certain mountain or valley. Elisha said, Do not send anyone.
They urged him repeatedly, but he found it difficult to refuse, so he said, ‘Send someone away.’. They sent fifty people and searched for three days, but they couldn’t find them.
Elisha is still waiting in Jericho for them to return to him. He said to them, Didn’t I tell you not to go?
The people of Jericho said to Elisha, “The terrain of this city is beautiful, and my lord has seen it.”. It’s just that the water is poor and the local produce is not ripe enough.
Elisha said, Bring me a new bottle and fill it with salt. They brought it to him.
He went out to the water source and poured salt into it, saying, “This is what the Lord says: ‘I have healed this water, and from then on I will no longer cause death or the land to fail to produce.'”.
So the water was healed to this day, as Elisha said.
Elisha went up from there to Bethel, and as he was about to go up, some young boys came out of the city and mocked him, saying, Let the bald man go up. Go up, bald one.
He turned around and saw that he cursed them in the name of the Lord. So two female bears came out of the forest and tore apart forty-two young boys among them.
Elisha went up Mount Carmel from Bethel and returned to Samaria from Mount Carmel.
