nd Kings _Chapter 3

In the eighteenth year of King Jehoshaphat of Judah, Jehoram son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria for twelve years.

He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, but not as his parents did, because he removed the pillars of Baal that his father had made.

However, he remained close to Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin and did not leave.

King Misha of Moab raised many sheep and brought tribute to the king of Israel every year from the wool of 100000 lambs and 100000 rams.

After Ahab’s death, the king of Moab betrayed the king of Israel.

At that time, King Joram went out of Samaria and numbered all Israel.

As they were moving forward, they sent messengers to King Jehoshaphat of Judah, saying, The king of Moab has betrayed me. Will you join me in attacking Moab? He said, “I am willing to go up, you and I are not separated from each other. My people are like your people, and my horses are like your horses.”.

And Joram said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, Go up by the way of the wilderness in Edom.

So the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom went on a seven day journey together. The army and their livestock have no water to drink.

The king of Israel said, Alas. The Lord has gathered us three kings to deliver them into the hands of the Moabites.

And Jehoshaphat said, Is not there a prophet of the Lord here? We can ask him to inquire of the Lord. One of the servants of the king of Israel answered, ‘Here is Elisha son of Shaphat, who served Elijah before.’.

Jehoshaphat said, ‘He will have the word of the Lord.’. So the king of Israel, Jehoshaphat, and the king of Edom went down to him.

Elisha said to the king of Israel, What have I to do with you. Go ask your father’s prophet and your mother’s prophet. The king of Israel said to him, “Do not say this: the Lord has gathered these three kings, but they will deliver them into the hands of the Moabites.”.

Elisha said, As the Lord Almighty lives, whom I serve, if I do not see the favor of King Jehoshaphat of Judah, I will not pay attention to you or consider you.

Now you can find someone to play the piano for me. When playing the harp, the hand of the Lord descended on Elisha.

And he said, Thus says the Lord, Dig trenches throughout this valley.

For thus says the Lord, Although you see no wind or rain, this valley will be filled with water, so that you and your livestock may have water to drink.

In the eyes of the Lord, this is still a small matter, and he will also deliver the Moabites into your hands.

You will conquer all the strong cities and beautiful cities, cut down all the good trees, block all the springs of water, and scatter all the beautiful fields with stones.

The next morning, around the time of sacrifice, water came from the east, and the whole land was filled with water.

When the people of Moab heard that these three kings had come up to fight against them, all those who could wear helmets and armor, old and young, gathered together and stood at the border.

The next morning, the sunlight shone on the water, and the Moabites got up and saw the water on the opposite side as red as blood,

Just say, this is blood. The three kings must have fought each other and all perished. Moabites, let’s go and plunder now.

When the Moabites arrived at the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and attacked them, causing them to flee before the Israelites. The Israelites pursued and killed the Moabites until they entered the territory of Moab,

Destroy the cities of Moab, each man throws stones to fill all the good fields, blocks all the springs of water, and cuts down all the good trees, leaving only the stone walls set by Kirhaled. The soldiers throwing stones are besieging and attacking the city in all directions.

The king of Moab saw that the formation was very strong and difficult to confront, so he led seven hundred soldiers armed with swords to charge through the formation and reach the king of Edom, but was unable to do so.

And he offered the eldest son who should succeed him as king as a burnt offering on the city. The Israelites were met with great anger from the Lord, so the three kings left the king of Moab and each returned to their own country.
