nd Kings _Chapter 20

At that time, Hezekiah was sick and dying. The prophet Isaiah, the son of Amos, went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Leave your life with your house, for you will die and cannot live.'”.

Hezekiah turned his face towards the wall and prayed to the Lord, saying,

Remember, O Lord, how I walked with perfect heart before you, walking in truth and doing what is good in your eyes. Hezekiah wept bitterly.

Before Isaiah came out to the city, the word of the Lord came to him, saying,

Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of the people, saying, This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, has said: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears, and I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to the temple of the Lord.

I will increase your life by fifteen years, and I will save you and this city from the hands of the king of Assyria. For the sake of myself and my servant David, I will protect this city.

Isaiah said, Take a fig cake. And the man took it and put it on the sore, and the king was healed.

Hezekiah asked Isaiah, “The Lord will heal me. On the third day, I will be able to go up to the temple of the Lord. What signs will there be?”?

Isaiah said, The Lord will do what he has said. This is his sign for you. Do you want the sun and shadow to move forward ten degrees? Are you going to step back ten degrees?

Hezekiah replied, “It is easy for the shadow to move forward ten degrees, but I want the shadow to move back ten degrees.”.

The prophet Isaiah called on the Lord, and the Lord caused the shadow of Ahaz’s sundial to recede ten degrees.

At that time, Bilodabaladan, the son of King Baladan of Babylon, heard that Hezekiah had recovered from illness and sent him letters and gifts.

Hezekiah obeyed the messengers and showed them the gold, silver, spices, precious ointment, all the weapons of his arsenal, and all his treasures. There is nothing in his family or throughout his country that Hezekiah does not show them.

So the prophet Isaiah came to King Hezekiah and asked him, ‘What are these people saying?’. Where did they come to see you. Hezekiah said, They came from far away Babylon.

Isaiah said, What did they see in your house. Hezekiah said, They have seen everything in my house. There is nothing in my treasure that I don’t show them.

Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Listen to the word of the Lord.”,

The day will come, and all that is in your house and that your ancestors have stored up until now will be taken captive to Babylon, leaving nothing behind. This is what the Lord has said.

And among the sons born of you, there will be those who are taken captive and become eunuchs in the palace of Babylon.

Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good.”. Isn’t it good if there is peace and stability in my days?

The rest of Hezekiah’s actions and his strength, as well as how he dug ponds, ditches, and brought water into the city, are all written in the book of the kings of Judah.

Hezekiah slept with his ancestors. His son Manasseh succeeded him as king.
