nd Kings _Chapter 13

In the twenty third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria for seventeen years.

Jehoahaz did evil in the eyes of the Lord, following the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin, and he did not turn away.

So the anger of the Lord was raging against the Israelites, and he repeatedly handed them over to Hazael king of Aram and his son Benhadad.

Jehoahaz pleaded with the Lord, and the Lord answered him, because he saw that the Israelites had been oppressed by the king of Aram.

The Lord gave the Israelites a savior to deliver them from the hands of the Arameans. So the Israelites continued to settle in their homes.

However, they did not leave the house of Jeroboam, which caused Israel to sin, and continued to do so, leaving behind the Asherah in Samaria.

The king of Aram destroyed the people of Jehoahaz, trampling them like dust on the threshing floor, leaving only fifty horsemen, ten chariots, and ten thousand infantry for him.

And all the other things that Jehoahaz did, and all his strength, are written in the book of the kings of Israel.

Jehoahaz slept with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria. His son Joash succeeded him as king.

In the thirty seventh year of King Joash of Judah, Joash son of Jehoahaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria for sixteen years.

He did evil in the eyes of the Lord and did not turn away from all the sins that Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, had caused Israel to sin. He continued to do so.

And all the other things that Joash did, and all his strength in battle with Amaziah the king of Judah, are written in the book of the kings of Israel.

Joash slept with his ancestors, and Jeroboam sat on his throne. Joash was buried together with the kings of Israel in Samaria.

Elisha fell ill and was about to die. King Joash of Israel came down to see him and wept on his face, saying, “My father.”. My father. The chariots and cavalry of Israel.

Elisha said to him, ‘Take your bow and arrows.’. The king took the bow and arrow.

And he said to the king of Israel, Take a bow in your hand. The king held the bow in his hand. Elisha placed his hand on the king’s hand,

Say, open the window facing east. He opened it. Elisha said, Shoot arrows. He shoots arrows. Elisha said, This is the Lord’s victorious arrow, the arrow that overcomes the Arameans. For you will attack the Arameans in Aph until they are completely destroyed.

Elisha also said, Take a few arrows. He took it. Elisha said, ‘Strike the ground.’. He fought three times and then stopped.

The man of God was angry with him and said, “Strike five or six times, and you will be able to attack the Arameans until they are completely destroyed.”. Now we can only defeat the Arameans three times.

Elisha died, and they buried him. In the new year, a group of Moabites violated the rules,

Someone was burying the dead when suddenly they saw a group of people and threw them into Elisha’s tomb. As soon as they touched Elisha’s bones, the dead were resurrected and stood up.

During the reign of Jehoahaz, King Hazael of Aram repeatedly oppressed the Israelites.

But the Lord, through the covenant he made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, still showed kindness to the Israelites, showed mercy to them, and cared for them. He refused to destroy them completely and did not yet drive them away from his presence.

King Hazael of Aram died, and his son Benhadad succeeded him as king.

Once upon a time, Hazael and Jehoahaz, the father of Joash, fought and captured some cities. Now, Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, has defeated Hazael’s son Benhadad three times and has taken back the cities of Israel.
