圣经After Ahab’s death, Moab betrayed Israel.
Ahaziah fell from the railing above in Samaria one day and fell ill. So he sent messengers, saying, Go and ask Baalzebub, the God of Ekron, whether I can recover from this illness.
But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tisbite, Get up, go and meet the angel of the king of Samaria, and say to them, Go and ask the God of Ekron, Baalzebub, because there is no God in Israel?
Therefore thus says the Lord, You will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, and you will surely die. Elijah went away.
When the envoy returned to the king, he asked them, “Why have you returned?”?
The messenger replied, “A man came to us and said to us, ‘Go back to the king who sent you, and say to him,’ This is what the Lord says: ‘Do you send someone to ask the God of Ekron, Baalzebub, because there is no God in Israel?'”? So you will not get off the bed you are on, you will definitely die.
The king asked them, “What kind of person is he who came to tell you these words?”.
Answer: He is wearing a sweater and a belt around his waist. The king said, This must be Elijah the Tisbite.
So the king sent a captain of fifty with fifty men to meet Elijah, and he went up to Elijah. Elijah is sitting on the mountaintop. The captain of fifty said to him, O man of God, the king has commanded you to come down.
Elijah replied, “If I were a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men.”. So fire came down from heaven and consumed the captain of fifty and his fifty men.
The king sent a captain of fifty for the second time, leading fifty men to meet Elijah. The captain of fifty said to Elijah, O man of God, the king has commanded you to come down quickly.
Elijah replied, “If I were a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men.”. So the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed the captain of fifty and his fifty men.
The king sent a captain of fifty for the third time, leading fifty people. The captain of fifty went up and knelt before Elijah, pleading with him, saying, O man of God, may my life and the lives of these fifty servants be precious in your sight.
Fire has already descended from heaven, devouring the fifty captains who came the first two times and their fifty men each. May my life be precious before your eyes now.
The angel of the Lord said to Elijah, “Go down with him, do not be afraid of him.”. Elijah got up and went down with him to the king,
And he said to the king, This is what the Lord has said: Have you sent someone to ask Baalzebub, the God of Ekron, because there is no God in Israel to ask? So you will not get off the bed you are on, you will definitely die.
Ahaziah indeed died, just as the Lord had said through Elijah. Because he had no son, his brother Joram succeeded him as king in the second year of Joram son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah.
And all the other acts of Ahaziah are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
