The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
The Israelites are to camp under their own banners, each under their own banner, facing the four sides of the tent of meeting.
To the east, towards the sunrise, the banner of the camp of Judah is set against the army. Nahshun, the son of Amminadab, was the leader of the Jews.

The tribe of Issachar camped next to him. Nethanel, the son of Suab, was the leader of the people of Issachar.
His army was numbered, totaling 54400.
There is also the Sibulun tribe. Eliab, the son of Helon, was the leader of the people of Zebulun.
His army was numbered, totaling 57400.
All the people belonging to the camp of Judah, numbered according to their armies, were 186400. They were to set out as the first army.
In the south, according to the army, it is the banner of the camp of Reuben. Elizur son of Shedeur was the leader of the Reubenites.
His army was numbered, totaling 46500.
Next to him is the tribe of Simeon. Shelumiel, the son of Zurishaddai, was the leader of the Simeon people.

Afterwards, the tent of meeting will move forward, and the camp of Levi will be among the camps. They will move forward as they camp, each according to their own position and under their own banner.

These Israelites, according to their clans and armies, were numbered in all the camps, totaling 600000 and 3500.
But the Levites were not numbered among the Israelites, as the Lord commanded Moses.
So the Israelites did this, each according to their household and clan, and set out and camped under their own banner, as the Lord commanded Moses.
