The Lord has made the Israelites quiet and will not fight against all their enemies around them for many days. Joshua was of old age,

And he called for the elders, chiefs, judges, and rulers of all Israel, and said to them, I am of old age.

You have seen with your own eyes all the things that the Lord your God has done to those nations because of you, because it is the Lord your God who is fighting for you.

I have divided by lot the nations that I have cut off and left, from the Jordan River to the great sea at sunset, among your tribes as an inheritance.

The Lord your God will drive them out from before you, causing them to leave you, and you will inherit their land, just as the Lord your God has promised.

Therefore, be of great courage and observe and do all the words written in the Book of the Law of Moses, and do not deviate from either side.

Do not mix with the remaining citizens among you. Their God, do not mention his name, do not swear by him, do not serve or bow down.

Just rely solely on the Lord your God, as you have done to this day.

For the Lord has driven out a great and strong nation from before you. Until today, no one can stand in front of you.

One of you will pursue a thousand, because the Lord your God will fight for you as he promised.

Be extra cautious and love the Lord your God.

If you turn around a little and connect with the remaining citizens among you, get acquainted with each other, and interact with each other,

Be certain that the Lord your God will no longer drive them out of your sight. But they will become a trap for you, a trap, a whip on your ribs, and a thorn in your eyes, until you perish in this beautiful land that the Lord your God has given you.

I am now going on the path that all men must follow. You know with all your heart and soul that none of the words that the Lord your God promised to bless you have come to fruition, and they have been fulfilled on you.

As all the blessings promised by the Lord your God come upon you, so will the Lord bring all kinds of calamity upon you, until he destroys you from this beautiful land that the Lord your God has given you.

If you violate the covenant that the Lord your God has commanded you to keep, and go and serve other gods and worship them, the Lord’s anger will be burning against you, causing you to perish quickly in the beautiful land he has given you.
