Joshua_Chapter 6
The gates of Jericho were tightly closed because of the Israelites, and no one entered or exited.
The Lord spoke to Joshua, saying, “See, I have delivered Jericho and his king, as well as the mighty warriors, into your hands.”.
All your soldiers must surround this city, once a day, and do this for six days.
Seven priests are to take seven sheep horns and walk in front of the ark. On the seventh day, you shall go around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the horn.
The sound of their horns is prolonged, and when you hear the sound of the horns, all the people will shout loudly, and the city walls will collapse. Everyone must go straight forward.
Joshua, the son of Nun, summoned the priests and commanded them, saying, Lift up the ark of the covenant, and seven priests with seven horns of sheep shall walk before the ark of the Lord.
And he said to the people, Go around the city, and those who carry weapons shall walk in front of the ark of the Lord.
After Joshua finished speaking to the people, seven priests took seven sheep horns and walked before the Lord, blowing their horns. The Ark of the Lord followed behind them.
The armed ones walked in front of the priests blowing horns, while the rear procession followed the Ark. The priest walked and blew at the same time.
Joshua commanded the people, saying, Do not shout, do not speak, do not utter a word from your mouth, until the day I command you to shout, then you may shout.
So he made the ark of the Lord go around the city, circling it once. Everyone returned to the camp and stayed there.
Joshua woke up early in the morning, and the priests lifted up the ark of the Lord.
Seven priests took seven sheep horns and walked constantly in front of the ark of the Lord, blowing their horns. The armed ones walked ahead of them, while the rear followed the ark of the Lord. The priest walked and blew at the same time.
The next day, everyone circled the city once and returned to the camp. It’s like this for six days.
On the early morning of the seventh day, at dawn, they got up and circled the city seven times. Only on this day did it encircle the city seven times.
At the seventh time, when the priests blew the horn, Joshua commanded the people to shout, for the Lord has given the city to you.
This city and all that is in it will be destroyed before the Lord. Only the prostitute Rahab and all her family members can survive, because she hides the messengers we have sent.
As for you, be careful not to take the thing that is to be destroyed, for fear that if you take the thing that is to be destroyed, it will bring a curse to the entire camp of Israel.
Only gold, silver, and bronze and iron vessels shall be holy to the Lord, and shall enter the treasury of the Lord.
So the people shouted, and the priests blew the horns. When the people heard the sound of the horn, they shouted loudly, and the city wall collapsed. The people went up to the city, and each person went straight forward to seize it.
And he killed all the people in the city, regardless of gender, age, cattle, sheep, and donkeys, with a sword.
Joshua commanded the two men who were scouting the land, saying, Go into the house of the prostitute, and bring out the woman and all that she has, as you have sworn to her.
When the two young men of the scouts went in, they brought out Rahab, her parents, brothers, all of her, and all of her relatives, and placed them outside the camp of Israel.
And they burned the city and all that was in it with fire. Only gold, silver, and bronze and iron vessels were placed in the treasury of the house of the Lord.
But Joshua saved the prostitute Rahab, her father’s house, and all she had. Because she hid the messengers sent by Joshua to spy on Jericho, she stayed in Israel until today.
At that time, Joshua made everyone swear, saying, Cursed be the one who rises up to rebuild this city of Jericho before the Lord. When he establishes his foundation, he will lose his eldest son, and when he closes his door, he will lose his youngest son.
The Lord was with Joshua, and his name spread throughout the land.
