Joshua_Chapter 1

After the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ helper, saying,

My servant Moses has died. Now rise up and cross the Jordan River with all the people, and go to the land that I will give to the Israelites.

I have given you all the land where your feet tread, as I promised Moses.

From the wilderness, from Lebanon to the great river Euphrates. The entire territory of the Hittites. Arriving at the sunset of the sea again. We will all be your realm.

No one in your lifetime will be able to stand before you. As I am with Moses, so will I be with you. I will not leave you or abandon you.

You should be strong and courageous. For you will make this people inherit that land as an inheritance, which I swore to their ancestors to give them.

As long as you are strong and of great courage, keep and do all the laws that my servant Moses commanded you, and do not deviate from the left or right, so that you may go smoothly wherever you go.

Do not leave your mouth with this law book; think day and night, so that you may keep and do all the words written in this book. In this way, your path can prosper and everything goes smoothly.

Didn’t I command you? You should be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid, don’t be panicked. For wherever you go, the Lord your God will be with you.

So Joshua commanded the officials of the people, saying,

Go through the camp and command the people to prepare food. For within three days, you will cross the Jordan River and enter to possess the land that the Lord your God has given you as an inheritance.

Joshua said to the people of Benben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh,

Remember the words that Moses, the servant of the Lord, commanded you, saying, The Lord your God has given you peace and will give you this land.

Your wives, children, and livestock can all stay in the land that Moses gave you on the east side of the Jordan River. But all the mighty warriors among you must go over with weapons in front of your brothers and help them,

Until the Lord gives your brothers peace like you and the land that the Lord your God has given them as an inheritance, then you can return to the land you have obtained and inherit it, which the Lord’s servant Moses gave you on the east side of the Jordan towards the sunrise.

They answered Joshua, saying, We will do all that you command us to do. Whatever you send us, we will all go.

As we once obeyed Moses in all things, so will we now obey you. May the Lord your God be with you, just as he was with Moses.

Whoever goes against your commands and does not obey all your commands will be put to death. You just need to be strong and courageous.
