Joshua_Chapter 21
At that time, the heads of the Levites came to Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the tribes of Israel,
And in Shiloh in the land of Canaan, he said to them, The Lord commanded us through Moses to dwell in our cities, and to feed our livestock in their suburbs.
So the Israelites gave the Levites the cities and their suburbs, as the Lord had commanded, from their own inheritance.
For the Kohathites, the priests of the Levites and the descendants of Aaron were given thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.
The remaining descendants of Kohath were given ten cities by lot from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and Manasseh.
The descendants of Gershon were given thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the half tribe of Manasseh living in Bashan.
The descendants of Merari, according to their families, were given twelve cities by lot from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
The Israelites divided these cities and their suburbs among the Levites by lot, as the Lord commanded through Moses.
From the tribes of Judah and Simeon, the following cities were given to the descendants of Aaron, the Kohathite clan of the tribe of Levi. Because the first lot was cast for them,
I gave them Kiriath Aba and the surrounding suburbs in the mountains of Judah. Aba is the ancestor of the Anak tribe. (Kiriath Aba is Hebron).
But he gave the fields and villages belonging to the city to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, as an inheritance.
The Israelites gave Hebron, the city of refuge and its suburbs, to the descendants of Aaron the priest. And he gave them Linah and the suburbs of the city,
Jatir and its suburbs, Ishtimoth and its suburbs,
Horun and its suburbs, Dibi and its suburbs,
Ain and its suburbs, Juta and its suburbs, Bethshemesh and its suburbs, a total of nine cities, were separated from these two tribes.
And he gave them Gibeon and its suburbs, and Geba and its suburbs, from the inheritance of the tribe of Benjamin,
Anathoth and its suburbs, Alemon and its suburbs, totaling four cities.
There were thirteen cities and their suburbs among the priests of Aaron’s descendants.
The cities obtained by lot from the tribe of the Levites, including the rest of the descendants of the Kohathites, were divided from the tribe of Ephraim.
The Israelites gave Shechem, a city of refuge and its suburbs in the mountainous region of Ephraim, which was a city of accidental homicide. And he gave them the base color and the suburbs of the city,
Kebeshan and his suburbs, and Beth Horun and his suburbs, were four cities in total.
And from the inheritance of the tribe of Dan, he gave them Illithikeh and its suburbs, and Kebedon and its suburbs,
Aijalon and its suburbs, Gatrim Gate and its suburbs, a total of four cities.
And from the inheritance of the half tribe of Manasseh, they were given Tanah with its suburbs, and Gatrim with its suburbs, two cities in total.
The remaining descendants of Koha had ten cities and their suburbs.
The Israelites also gave Golan in Bashan, the city of refuge and its suburbs, to the descendants of Gershon, the tribe of Levi, from the territory of the half tribe of Manasseh. And he gave them Pishtila and its suburbs, two cities in total.
And he gave them Kishan and her suburbs, and Dabilah and her suburbs, from the inheritance of the tribe of Issachar,
Jemoh and his suburbs, and Enganim and his suburbs, were four cities in total.
And from the inheritance of the tribe of Asher, he gave them Mishal and her suburbs, and Abdon and her suburbs,
Heijia and its suburbs, Rehab and its suburbs, a total of four cities.
And he gave Kedesh in Galilee, which was a city of refuge and its suburbs, to the tribe of Naphtali, from their inheritance. And he gave them Hammodor with its suburbs, and Kartan with its suburbs, three cities in total.
The Gershonites obtained thirteen cities according to their clans, along with their suburbs.
The rest of the tribe of Levi, the descendants of Merari, obtained from the inheritance of the tribe of Zebulun, including Jonam and its suburbs, Karta and its suburbs,
Dinah and its suburbs, Nahara and its suburbs, four cities in total.
And from the inheritance of the tribe of Reuben, they were given Bezer and her suburbs, and Jaza and her suburbs,
Kekimo with its suburbs, and Mephaab with its suburbs, a total of four cities.
And from the inheritance of the tribe of Gad, he gave Ramoth Gilead, which was a city of refuge for accidental killing, and its suburbs. And he gave them Mahanaim and the suburbs of the city,
Heshbon with its suburbs, and Jazer with its suburbs, a total of four cities.
The remaining tribe of Levi, the descendants of Merari, obtained twelve cities by lot according to their families.
The Levites obtained a total of forty-eight cities in the land of the Israelites, with their suburbs.
These cities are surrounded by suburbs belonging to the city, and this is true for all the cities.
So the Lord gave all the land that he had sworn to their ancestors to the Israelites, and they inherited it and lived in it.
According to all the words that the Lord swore to their ancestors, he gave them peace on all sides. No one among all their enemies can stand before them. The Lord has delivered all his enemies into their hands.
The word that the Lord promised to bless the house of Israel was not in vain, it was fulfilled.
