Jeremiah_Chapter 28
In the fourth year of the reign of King Zedekiah of Judah, in the fifth month of the fourth year, Hananiah the prophet, the son of Ashok the Gibeonite, said to me in front of the priests and all the people in the house of the Lord,
This is what the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, says: I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
Within two years, I will bring back all the vessels that King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon brought from this land to Babylon, including all the vessels in the house of the Lord.
I will bring back Jeconiah, the son of King Jehoiakim of Judah, and all the Jews who were taken captive to Babylon, to this place, because I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon. This is what the Lord has said.
The prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah in front of the priests and all the people standing in the temple of the Lord,
Amen. May the Lord do so, may the Lord fulfill your prophecy and bring back the vessels of the Lord’s temple and all those who have been taken captive from Babylon to this place.
However, you should listen to what I am going to say to you and all the people in your ears.
From ancient times, prophets before us have prophesied to many countries and nations about wars, disasters, and plagues.
When the peace prophesied by the prophet is fulfilled, people will know that he is truly the one sent by the Lord.
So the prophet Hananiah took off the yoke from Jeremiah’s neck and broke it.
And Hananiah said to all the people, This is what the Lord has said: Within two years, I will break the yoke of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon from the necks of the nations. So the prophet Jeremiah left.
After Hananiah the prophet broke the yoke on Jeremiah the prophet’s neck, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,
Go and tell Hananiah, ‘This is what the Lord says:’ You have broken the wooden yoke, but you have replaced it with an iron one. ‘.
For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I have put an iron yoke on the necks of these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and they shall surely serve him. I also gave him the beasts of the field.
So the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah, “Listen, Hananiah.”. The Lord did not send you, but you made this people trust in lies.
Therefore thus says the Lord, See, I will cause you to die, and you will die this year because you have spoken rebellious words to the Lord.
So the prophet Hananiah died in the seventh month of that year.
