Joseph fell on his father’s face and wept, kissing him.

Joseph ordered the doctors who served him to embalm his father, and the doctors embalmed Israel with spices.

The usual practice of embalming a corpse is forty days. The forty days were over, and the Egyptians mourned for him for seventy days.

The days of mourning for him have passed, and Joseph said to the people of Pharaoh’s house, If I find favor in your eyes, please report to Pharaoh, saying,

When my father was about to die, he made me swear, saying, Bury me in the land of Canaan, in the grave I have dug for myself. Now please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come back from now on.

Pharaoh said, Go up and bury your father according to the oath he made you swear.

So Joseph went up to bury his father. And those who went up with him were Pharaoh’s servants, the elders of Pharaoh’s house, and the elders of the land of Egypt,

And Joseph’s whole family, his brothers, and his father’s family. Only their women and children, as well as their flocks and herds, remained in the land of Goshen.

There were also vehicles and cavalry going up with him. That group of people is very large.

They arrived at the threshing ground of Adad, outside the Jordan River, and there they wept greatly and bitterly. Joseph mourned for his father for seven days.

When the inhabitants of Canaan saw the mourning on the threshing floor of Adah, they said, This is a great mourning of the Egyptians. Therefore, the name of that place is Abelmeshi, located east of the Jordan River.

Jacob’s sons did as his father commanded them,

Bring him to the land of Canaan and bury him in a cave in the field of Mabel in front of Mamre. The cave and field were bought by Abraham from Ephron the Hittite as an inheritance for a burial ground.

After Joseph buried his father, he and his brothers, as well as all those who went up with him to bury his father, returned to Egypt.

When Joseph’s brothers saw that his father had died, they said, Perhaps Joseph harbored hatred towards us and avenged us with all the evil we had done to him before.

And they sent messengers to Joseph, saying, Before your father died, command him:,

This is what you must say to Joseph: “Forgive your brothers for their wrongdoing and sin when they did evil to you in the past.”. Now please forgive the sins of your father, the servant of God. When they said these words to Joseph, he wept.

His brothers came and prostrated themselves before him, saying, We are your servants.

Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid, can I replace God?”?

Previously, your intention was to harm me, but God’s intention was good, to preserve the lives of many and achieve the present day.

Now do not be afraid, I will feed you and your women and children. So Joseph comforted them with loving words.

Joseph and his father’s family lived in Egypt. Joseph lived for 110 years.

Joseph saw the descendants of the third generation of Ephraim. Manasseh’s grandson, Machir’s son, was also raised on Joseph’s lap.

Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die, but God will surely take care of you and lead you up from this land to the land he swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”.

Joseph made the children of Israel swear, saying, God will surely take care of you. You need to move my bones up from here.

Joseph died at the age of 110. People perfumed him with spices, buried him in a coffin, and stopped him in Egypt.
