Abram went up from Egypt to the south with his wife, Lot, and everything he had.

Abram had a wealth of gold, silver, and livestock.

He gradually moved from the south towards Bethel and arrived between Bethel and Ai, where he had previously pitched his tent,

It is also the place where he first built the altar, and there he called upon the name of the Lord.

Lot, who was traveling with Abram, also had herds of cattle, sheep, and tents.

The land cannot accommodate them because they have a lot of wealth, making it impossible for them to live together.

At that time, Canaanites and Perizzites lived in that land. The shepherds of Abram and Lot were in conflict.

Abram said to Lot, “Let us not contend, nor let your shepherds and my shepherds contend, for we are brothers.”.

Isn’t it everywhere in front of you? Please leave me, if you turn left, I will turn right. You go to the right, I will go to the left.

Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the entire plain of the Jordan River, as far as Zoar, was well nourished. Before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, the land was like the Lord’s garden and like the land of Egypt.

So Lot chose the entire plain of the Jordan River and migrated eastward. They separated from each other.

Abram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, gradually moving his tents until he reached Sodom.

The people of Sodom have committed great and evil before the Lord.

After Lot bid farewell to Abram, the Lord said to Abram, ‘From where you are, lift up your eyes and look east, west, north, and south.’.

I will give you and your descendants all the land you see forever.

I will also make your descendants as numerous as the dust on the earth, so that if one can count the dust on the earth, they can count your descendants.

Get up and travel through this land, for I will give it to you.

Abram moved his tent and came to live with the oak tree of Mamre in Hebron, where he built an altar to the Lord.
