Genesis_Chapter 33

Jacob lifted up his eyes and saw Esau coming, followed by four hundred men. He then divided the children and handed them over to Leah, Rachel, and the two maids,

And he called the two maids and their children at the front, Leah and her children at the back, and Rachel and Joseph at the back.

He went ahead of them himself, prostrating himself to the ground seven times in a row before approaching his brother.

Esau ran to meet him, hugged him, hugged his neck, kissed him, and the two of them cried.

Esau lifted up his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, Who are these who are with you? Jacob said, These children are God’s mercy to your servants.

So the two maids and their children came to bow down.

Leah and her children also came to pay their respects. Later, Joseph and Rachel also came to worship.

Esau said, “What do these herds of livestock that I have encountered mean?”? Jacob said, To find grace before my lord.

Esau said, Brother, I have enough of mine; let your own be yours.

Jacob said, Otherwise, if I find favor in your eyes, please accept this gift from my hand. Because I have seen your face, as if I had seen God’s face, and you have accommodated me.

Please accept the gift I brought to you. Because God is kind to me, making me abundant. Jacob begged him repeatedly before he accepted it.

Esau said, Let us get up and go, and I will go before you.

Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are young and delicate, and the cattle and sheep are also being nurtured. If they are driven away for a day, all the livestock will die.”.

May my lord walk before my servant, and I will measure the strength of the herds and children in front of me and walk slowly until I reach my lord Seir.

Esau said, Let me leave some of my followers with you. Jacob said, Why need it? Just find grace in front of my lord.

So Esau set out on the same day and returned to Seir.

Jacob went to Succoth and built his own house there, and pitched tents for his livestock. Therefore, that place is called Succoth (which means shed).

When Jacob returned from Padanaram, he went in peace to the city of Shechem in the land of Canaan and pitched his tent on the east side of the city,

So he bought the piece of land for a tent from the father of Shechem, the descendants of Hamor, for a hundred pieces of silver,

There he built an altar and named it Eli Iroi Israel (meaning God of Israel).
