Genesis_Chapter 12

The Lord said to Abram, “Leave your land, your family, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you.”.

I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you. I will make your name great, and you will also bless others.

I will bless those who bless you. I will curse him who curses you, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed in you.

Abram went according to the command of the Lord. Lot also went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

Abram took his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot, along with the wealth they had accumulated in Haran and the population they had acquired, to the land of Canaan. They arrived in the land of Canaan.

Abram passed through the land and arrived at the place of Shechem, at the oak tree of Mori. At that time, the Canaanites lived in that land.

The Lord appeared to Abram, saying, I will give this land to your descendants. Abram built an altar there for the Lord, who appeared to him.

From there, he moved to the mountain east of Bethel and pitched his tent. To the west is Bethel, and to the east is Ai. He built an altar to the Lord there and called on the name of the Lord.

Later, Abram gradually moved further south.

The land is facing famine. Because the famine was severe, Abram went down to Egypt to temporarily reside there.

As he approached Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I know you are a beautiful woman.”.

The Egyptians will see you and say, ‘This is his wife.’ They will kill me, but they will keep you alive.

Please say, You are my sister, so that I may have peace through You, and my life may live through You.

When Abram arrived in Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was extremely beautiful.

Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her in front of Pharaoh. The woman was taken into Pharaoh’s palace.

Pharaoh treated Abram well because of this woman, and Abram received many oxen, sheep, camels, donkeys, female donkeys, and servants.

The Lord caused a great disaster on Pharaoh and his entire family because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

Pharaoh summoned Abram and said, “What have you done to me?”? Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife?

Why do you say she’s your sister, so I took her to be my wife? Now your wife is here, you can take her away.

So Pharaoh ordered people to send Abram, his wife, and all he had away.
