Exodus_Chapter 33

The Lord commanded Moses, saying, I have sworn to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, I will give the land of Canaan to your descendants. Now you and the people you brought out of the land of Egypt are going from here to that land.

I will send messengers before you to drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites,

Lead you to the land flowing with milk and honey. I will not go up with you myself, because you are a stiff necked people, afraid that I will destroy you on the way.

The people mourned when they heard this bad news, and no one wore ornaments.

The Lord said to Moses, Tell the Israelites, ‘The Lord says,’ You are a people with stiff necks. If I come among you in an instant, I will destroy you. ‘. Now you need to take off your makeup so that I can know how to treat you.

After residing in Mount Horeb, the Israelites removed all their ornaments from their bodies.

Moses used to set up the tent outside the camp, but it was far from the camp. He called this tent the Tent of Meeting. Whoever asks the Lord, go to the tent of meeting outside the camp.

When Moses went out to the tent of meeting, all the people got up and stood at the entrance of their tents, looking at Moses until he entered the tent of meeting.

When Moses entered the tent of meeting, the pillar of cloud came down and stood at the door of the tent of meeting, and the Lord spoke to Moses.

When all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing in front of the door of the tabernacle of meeting, they all stood up and bowed down at the entrance of their tents.

The Lord spoke face to face with Moses, as if a man were speaking with his friends. Moses turned to the camp, but his helper Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, did not leave the tent of meeting.

Moses said to the Lord, “Command me to bring this people up, but you did not let me know who you will send with me. You only said, ‘I know you by your name, and you have found favor in my sight.'”.

If I find favor in your eyes now, please show me your way so that I may know you, so that I may find favor in your eyes. Please think that this people are your people.

The Lord said, I will personally go with you and give you rest.

Moses said, If you do not personally come with me, do not bring us up from here.

How can people know that I and your people have found favor in your eyes? Isn’t it because you went with us that I and your people were separated from all the people on earth?

The Lord said to Moses, ‘I will do what you ask, because you have found favor in my eyes, and I know you by your name.’.

Moses said, “Please show me your glory.”.

The Lord said, I will show all my kindness and pass by before you, proclaiming my name. I will treat whoever I want to be kind to, and I will pity whoever I want to pity,

And he said, You cannot see my face, because people cannot live to see my face.

The Lord said, “See, there is a place with me where you will stand on a rock.”.

When my glory passes by, I will put you in a rock cave and cover you with my hands until I pass by,

Then I will retract my hand, and you will see my back, but not my face.
