Exodus_Chapter 9

The Lord commanded Moses, ‘Go in to Pharaoh and say to him,’ This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘Let my people go, that they may serve me.’.

If you refuse to let them go and still force them to stay,

The hand of the Lord will be on your livestock in the field, on horses, donkeys, camels, herds of cattle, and flocks, and there will be a heavy plague.

The Lord will separate the livestock of Israel from the livestock of Egypt, and no one belonging to the Israelites will die.

The Lord set a time and said, Tomorrow the Lord will do this in this place.

The next day, the Lord did this. Almost all the livestock in Egypt have died, but none of the livestock in Israel have died.

Pharaoh sent someone to see, but to his surprise, not even one of the livestock of the Israelites died. The pharaoh’s heart was stubborn and he did not allow the people to go.

The Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, saying, Take a few handful of furnace ashes, and Moses shall raise them up to heaven in front of Pharaoh.

This ash will turn into dust throughout the entire land of Egypt, and it will become blistering sores on humans and livestock.

Moses and Aaron took the ashes from the furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses lifted it up into the sky and it became blistering sores on humans and livestock.

The magicians could not stand before Moses, because this sore was on them and all the Egyptians.

The Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart and did not listen to them, just as the Lord had said to Moses.

The Lord said to Moses, Get up early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh, saying to him, This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, that they may serve me.

For this time I will bring all the calamity upon you, your servants, and your people, so that you may know that there is no one like me in the whole world.

If I had stretched out my hand and attacked you and your people with a plague, you would have long been eradicated from the earth.

In fact, I have called you to be established to show you my great power and to spread my name throughout the world.

Do you still arrogate yourself to my people and not allow them to go?

Tomorrow around this time, I will cause a great hail to fall. There has been no such hail since the founding of Egypt.

Now send someone to bring in your livestock and all that is in your field. Anyone who does not return home in the field, whether they are humans or livestock, hail will fall on them and they will die.

Among Pharaoh’s servants, those who were afraid of the words of the Lord caused his slaves and livestock to run into their homes.

But those who do not take the words of the Lord to heart will leave their slaves and livestock in the field.

The Lord said to Moses, ‘Stretch out your rod to heaven, so that there will be hail on all the people and livestock throughout Egypt, and on all the vegetables in the field.’.

Moses stretched out his rod to heaven, and the Lord struck thunder and hail, and fire flashed onto the earth. The Lord struck hail on the land of Egypt.

At that time, hail mixed with fire, and it was very severe. Since Egypt became a nation, there has been no such thing in the whole land.

Throughout Egypt, hail struck all the people and livestock in the field, as well as all the vegetables, and destroyed all the trees in the field.

But there was no hail in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites lived.

Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron and said to them, ‘I have sinned this time.’. The Lord is righteous, and I and my people are evil.

This thunder and hail are already enough. Please pray to the Lord, and I will let you go and no longer keep you.

Moses said to him, “As soon as I leave the city, I will raise up my hand and pray to the Lord. The thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, so that you may know that all the earth belongs to the Lord.”.

As for you and your servants, I know that you still do not fear the Lord God.

At that time, the hemp and barley were struck by hail, because the barley had already sprouted ears and the hemp had bloomed.

It’s just that wheat and rye haven’t been hit because they haven’t grown yet.

Moses left Pharaoh’s city and raised his hand to pray to the Lord. The thunder and hail stopped, and the rain stopped pouring on the ground.

When Pharaoh saw that the rain, hail, and thunder had stopped, he became even more wicked, and he and his servants hardened their hearts.

Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he did not allow the Israelites to go, as the Lord had said through Moses.
