Exodus_Chapter 1

The sons of Israel came to Egypt with their families and Jacob, and their names are recorded below.

Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah,

Issachar, Zebulun, Benjamin,

But Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

All who were born of Jacob were seventy. Joseph is already in Egypt.

Joseph, his brothers, and that generation all died.

The Israelites raised a large number of people and flourished, becoming extremely strong and filling the land.

A new king who did not know Joseph rose up and ruled over Egypt,

And he said to his people, See, these people of Israel are more numerous and stronger than us.

Come on, let’s use clever tactics to deal with them, otherwise they will increase in number. In the future, if there is any war, they will join forces with our enemies to attack us and leave this land.

So the Egyptians appointed supervisors to rule over them and increased their burden of suffering. They built two hoarding cities for Pharaoh, namely Bedon and Ramsay.

But the more they suffered, the more they multiplied and spread, and the Egyptians were troubled by the Israelites.

The Egyptians strictly enforced the work of the Israelites,

Causing them to feel the bitterness of their fate through hard work, whether it be mixing mud, making bricks, or doing all kinds of work in the fields, treating them with strictness in all their work.

There were two Hebrew midwives, one named Sephrah and the other named Puah. The king of Egypt said to them,

When you give birth to Hebrew women and see them give birth, if it is a boy, kill him; if it is a girl, keep her alive.

But the midwife feared God and did not follow the commands of the king of Egypt, leaving the boy alive.

The king of Egypt summoned the midwives and said, “Why did you do this and keep the lives of the boys?”?

The midwife said to Pharaoh, “Because Hebrew women are different from Egyptian women, Hebrew women are lively. Before the midwife arrives, they have already given birth.”.

God treats the midwife well. The Israelites multiplied and became extremely strong.

Because the midwives feared God, God made them establish families.

Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, Cast all the sons of Israel into the river, and preserve the lives of all the daughters.
