After this, King Ahasuerus elevated Haman, the son of Hammedathar of the Agagite, to a higher rank than all the officials who were with him.

All the servants at the court knelt down and worshipped Haman, because the king had commanded him so. Only Mordecai did not kneel or bow.

The servants at the court asked Mordecai, “Why have you disobeyed the king’s orders?”?

They advised him every day, but he still didn’t listen. So they told Haman to see if Mordecai could stand or not, because he had already told them that he was Jewish.

When Haman saw that Mordecai did not kneel or bow, he was filled with anger.

They have told Haman about the tribe of Mordecai. He thought it was a small matter to harm Mordecai, and that he would destroy all the Jews who were in the kingdom of King Ahasuerus, including Mordecai’s own clan.

In the first month of the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, which is the month of Nizan, they cast a lot in front of Haman, day by day, month by month, to determine which month and day is good. They chose the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar.

Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a people who are scattered among the provinces of the kingdom, and their laws are different from those of all nations, and they do not abide by the king’s laws. Therefore, it is not beneficial for the king to keep them.”.

If Wang thinks it beautiful, please issue a decree to exterminate them. I will donate ten thousand taels of silver to the person in charge of the national treasury and include it in the king’s treasury.

So the king took the ring from his own hand and gave it to Haman, the son of Hammedathar, the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews.

The king said to Haman, ‘This silver will still be given to you, and this people will also be handed over to you. You can treat them as you please.’.

On the thirteenth day of the first month, the king’s secretary was summoned to write a decree in the name of King Ahasuerus, in the script of each province and in the dialect of each tribe, according to all that Haman had commanded, and to deliver it to the governor, the governors of each province, and the leaders of each tribe. And seal it with the king’s ring.

Hand it over to the courier and deliver it to the provinces of the king, ordering the Jews, regardless of age, women, or children, to be completely cut off in one day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, to be slaughtered and destroyed, and to take their wealth as plunder.

Copy this decree, proclaim it to all provinces, proclaim it to all tribes, and prepare them for that day.

The post guard hurriedly set out at the king’s command, and the decree was also spread throughout Shushan City. The king sat down with Haman to drink, but the people of Shushan were all in turmoil.
