The Book of Daniel_Chapter 6
Darius, as he wished, appointed one hundred and twenty governors to govern the entire country.
And he appointed three chief officials above them (with Daniel among them), so that the governor could respond to their affairs in front of them, so that the king would not suffer losses.
Because Daniel had a beautiful spirit, he was obviously superior to the other commanders and governors, and the king wanted to appoint him to govern the entire country.
At that time, the general and governor sought the leverage of Daniel to mislead the country, in order to participate in him. I just can’t find his mistakes or faults, because he is loyal to his work and has no mistakes or faults.
And those people said, We will find a reference to Daniel, unless we cannot find it in the law of his God.
So the chief commander and governor gathered one after another to see the king, saying, May King Darius live forever.
The chief minister, imperial envoy, governor, counselor, and governor of the kingdom shall consult with each other to establish a firm decree, and within thirty days, no one shall be bound. If anyone asks anything from God or anyone outside of the king, they shall be thrown into the lion’s den.
King, now I beg you to establish this decree and affix a jade seal, so that the decree will never be changed. According to the example of the Medes and Persians, it is unchangeable.
So King Darius established this decree and stamped it with a jade seal.
Daniel knew that the decree had been sealed with a jade seal, so he went to his own house (with the window above him facing Jerusalem) and knelt on his knees three times a day before his God, praying and thanking, as usual.
Those people gathered together and saw Daniel praying and pleading before his God.
They went up to the king and brought up the king’s decree, saying, O king, within thirty days, no one shall be bound. If anyone asks anything from God or anyone outside the king, they shall be thrown into the lion’s den. Didn’t Wang stamp a jade seal on this ban? The king replied, “Indeed, this matter cannot be changed according to the laws of the Medes and Persians.”.
They said to the king, O king, Daniel, one of the exiled Jews, ignored you and did not follow the decree that you sealed with a jade seal. He prayed three times a day.
When the king heard these words, he was very distressed and determined to save Daniel. He planned to rescue him until sunset.
And those people gathered together one after another to see the king, saying, O king, know that there are laws for the Medes and Persians, and that no commandment or law that the king has made shall be changed.
The king ordered that Daniel be brought and thrown into the lion’s den. The king said to Daniel, ‘The God you always serve will save you.’.
Someone carried a stone and placed it at the mouth of the pit, and the king sealed the pit with his own seal and the seal of his ministers, so that the punishment of Daniel remained unchanged.
The king returned to the palace and fasted all night. No one brought musical instruments to him and he couldn’t sleep.
The next day at dawn, the king got up and hurriedly went to the lion’s den.
Approaching the edge of the pit, he cried out to Daniel with a mournful voice, saying to Daniel, O servant of the living God, Daniel, can your God whom you always serve save you from the lion?
Daniel said to the king, May the king live forever.
My God has sent messengers to seal the mouths of lions, so that they will not harm me. Because I am innocent before God, and I have not done any loss before the king.
The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be tied up from the pit. So Daniel was tied up from the pit without any damage on his body, because he trusted in his God.
The king ordered that those who accused Daniel, including their wives and children, be brought and thrown into the lion’s den. Before they reached the bottom of the pit, the lion captured them and bit their bones to pieces.
At that time, King Darius issued a decree to all the people, nations, and tribes living in all the land, saying, May you have great peace.
Now I issue a decree to all the people under my jurisdiction to tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. Because he is an eternal living God, and his kingdom will never be destroyed. His authority is forever boundless.
He protected and delivered people, performed miracles and wonders in heaven and earth, and saved Daniel from the mouth of the lion.
So Daniel prospered greatly during the reigns of King Darius and King Cyrus of Persia.
