The Book of Amos_Chapter 7
The Lord GOD has instructed me one thing. After cutting vegetables for the king (or making grass), the vegetables reappeared, and at the beginning, the lord created locusts.
And when the locusts devoured all the green things of the land, I said, Lord Jehovah, forgive me. How can Jacob stand because he is weak?
And the Lord repented, saying, This calamity shall be spared.
The Lord Jehovah has instructed me another thing. He ordered fire to punish Israel, and the fire swallowed up the abyss, almost burning up the earth.
I said, Lord Jehovah, please cease. Because Jacob is weak. How can he stand?
And the Lord repented, saying, This calamity shall also be spared.
He instructed me another thing. There is a wall built according to the standard line, and the master stands on it with the standard line in hand.
The Lord said to me, Amos, what do you see. I said, see the compass. The Lord said, I will lift up a line of sight among my people Israel. I will no longer forgive them.
The high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the holy places of Israel shall be desolate. I will rise up and attack the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent messengers to King Jeroboam of Israel, saying, Amos has conspired against you in the house of Israel. All the words he said cannot be borne by this country.
For Amos said, Jeroboam shall be slain by the sword, and the people of Israel shall be taken captive from their land.
And Amaziah said to Amos, O seer, flee to the land of Judah, and make a living there, and prophesy there.
But do not prophesy again in Bethel, for here is the king’s sanctuary and the king’s palace.
Amos said to Amaziah, “I am not a prophet, nor am I a son of a prophet.”. I am a shepherd and also a repairman of mulberry trees.
The Lord has chosen me not to follow the flock and said to me, ‘Go and prophesy to my people Israel.’.
Amaziah, now hear the word of the Lord. You say, do not prophesy to Israel, and do not prophesy to the house of Isaac.
Therefore thus says the Lord, Your wife will be a prostitute in the city, Your children will fall by the sword, Your land will be measured with ropes, You will die in a polluted land, And the people of Israel will be taken captive from their land.
