O Israelites, I brought up your entire family from the land of Egypt. Listen to the word of the Lord against you.

Among the thousands of tribes on earth, I only know you. Therefore, I will pursue all your sins.

If two people are not united, how can they walk together?

How can a lion roar in the forest unless it grasps food? How can a young lion make a sound from its cave if it has nothing to gain?

If there is no trap, how can birds fall into the net? How can a net be overturned from the ground if it has no gain?

If the horn blows in the city, will the people not be alarmed? If disaster comes on a city, is it not the Lord who has brought it?

If the Lord Jehovah does not reveal the mystery to his servants the prophets, he will do nothing.

A lion roars, who is not afraid? Who can not prophesy, as the Lord Jehovah has commanded?

Proclaim in the palaces of Ashdod and in the land of Egypt, saying, Gather yourselves on the mountains of Samaria, and see what great disturbance and oppression there is in the city.

Those who use violence and plunder to accumulate wealth in their own homes do not know how to do upright things. This is what the Lord has said.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: The enemy will come and besiege this land, causing your power to decline and plundering your houses.
