Samson went down to Timnah and saw a woman there, a daughter of the Philistines.

Samson came up and reported to his parents, saying, I saw a woman in Timnah, a daughter of the Philistines. May you take her for me as my wife.

His parents said, Is there not a woman among the daughters of your brothers or among the people of your country? How could you go and take a wife among the uncircumcised Philistines? Samson said to his father, “May you marry me that woman, because I am pleased with her.”.

But his parents did not know that this was from the Lord, because he found an opportunity to attack the Philistines. At that time, the Philistines ruled over the Israelites.

Samson and his parents went down to Timnah and arrived at the vineyard of Timnah. They saw a young lion roaring at him.

The spirit of the Lord moved Samson greatly, even though he had no weapons in his hands, he tore the lion apart like a lamb. He did not tell his parents about this matter.

When Samson went down to speak to the woman, he rejoiced in her.

After a while, when he went down to marry that woman, he turned to the roadside to see the dead lion and saw a group of bees and honey inside the dead lion,

Take honey by hand and eat it while walking. When he arrived at his parents, he gave it to them and they also ate it. Just didn’t tell me that the honey was taken from within the dead lion.

His father went down to meet the woman. Samson set up a banquet there, because young people have always had this custom.

When everyone saw Samson, they invited thirty people to accompany him.

Samson said to them, “I will give you a riddle. If you can guess the meaning during the seven day banquet and tell me, I will give you thirty inner garments and thirty sets of clothing.”.

If you can’t guess the meaning and tell me, give me thirty pieces of inner clothing and thirty sets of clothing. They said, please tell us the riddle.

Samson said to them, ‘What you eat comes out of the eater.’. Sweet comes from the strong. They couldn’t guess the meaning of the riddle for three days.

On the seventh day, they said to Samson’s wife, ‘You deceive your husband and uncover the meaning of the riddle, so that we may not set fire to you and your father’s house.’. Are you inviting us here to take everything from us?

Samson’s wife wept in front of her husband and said, “You hate me, not love me. You have given riddles to my people, but you have not told me the meaning.”. Samson replied, “How can I tell you that I haven’t even told my parents?”?

During the seven day banquet, she wept in front of her husband. It was not until the seventh day that he forced him to tell his wife the meaning of the riddle, and her wife told her people.

On the seventh day, before the sun had set, the people of the city said to Samson, “What is sweeter than honey?”? What is stronger than a lion? Samson said to them, If you had not cultivated the land with my heifers and calves, you would not have guessed the meaning of my riddle.

The spirit of the Lord moved Samson greatly, and he went down to Ashkelon and killed thirty people, taking their clothes and giving them to those who guessed the riddle. Samson became angry and went up to his father’s house.

Samson’s wife returned to Samson’s company, who had been his friend.
