Samuel's note_Chapter 13
David’s son Absalom had a beautiful girl named Tamar. David’s son Amnon loved her.
Annen was worried and sick for his sister Tamar. Tama is still a virgin, and Annen thinks it’s difficult to act on her.
Amnon had a friend named Jonadab, the son of Shimiah, David’s elder brother. This Jonada is extremely cunning.
He asked Amnon, “O son of the king, why is he getting thinner and weaker day by day?”? Please tell me. Amnon replied, “I love Tamar, the sister of my brother Absalom.”.
Jonada said, Why don’t you lie in bed and pretend to be sick. When your father came to see you, he said to him, ‘Please call my sister Tamar and prepare food in front of me, hand it to me to eat, so that I can see it and take it from her hand to eat.’.
So she lay down and pretended to be sick. When the king came to see him, he said to the king, “Please ask my father to call my sister Tamar and make two cakes for me in front of me, so that I can take them from her hand and eat them.”.
David sent messengers to the palace and said to Tamar, “Go to your brother Amnon’s house and prepare food for him.”.
Tama went to her brother’s room. Darkness is lying down. Tamar kneaded the dough and made cakes before his eyes, and roasted them,
He poured the cake out of the pot in front of him, but he refused to eat it. So he said, Let everyone leave me and go out. So everyone left him and went out.
Annen said to Tamar, “Take the food into the bedroom so that I can take it from your hand and eat it.”. So Tamar took the bread she had made and brought it into the bedroom to her brother Amnon,
Taking the cake and offering it to him to eat, he grabbed Tamar and said, “My sister, come and sleep with me.”.
Tama said, “My brother, don’t insult me.”. Do not do this among the Israelites, do not do this shameful thing.
You have insulted me, how can I cover up my shame? You have also become a foolish person in Israel. You can ask the king, he will not prohibit me from returning to you.
But Amnon refused to listen to her words, and because he was stronger than her, he defiled her and slept with her.
Later, Annen hated her extremely, and his hatred towards her was even greater than his previous love for her. He said to her, “Get up, go.”.
Tama said, don’t do this. The crime of you driving me out is even more serious than what you did. But Annen refused to listen to her words,
And he called his servant who served him, and said, Drive this woman out. As soon as she goes out, you close the door and bolt it.
At that time, Tama was wearing colorful clothes because unmarried princesses wore them like this. The servant of Darkness drove her out and locked the door with a bolt.
Tamar sprinkled dust on her head, tore off her colorful clothes, held her head in her hands, and walked while crying.
Her brother Absalom asked her, “Has your brother Amnon been close to you?”? My sister, stay quiet for now. He is your brother, so don’t take this matter to heart. Tamar lived alone in her brother Absalom’s house.
When King David heard this, he was very angry.
Absalom did not say anything good or bad to his brother Amnon. Because Amnon had defiled his sister Tamar, Absalom hated him.
After two years, there were people in Baal Hazor near Ephraim who were shearing Absalom’s wool. Absalom invited the king’s sons to go with him.
Absalom came to the king and said, “Now someone is shearing sheep for your servant. Please let the king and his servants go with your servant.”.
The king said to Absalom, “My son, we don’t need to all go, I’m afraid it will cause you too much trouble.”. Absalom repeatedly asked the king, but he still refused to go and only blessed him.
Absalom said, If the king does not go, I beg the king to allow my brother Amnon to go with me. The king said, Why do you need him to go?
Absalom repeatedly begged the king, and he allowed Amnon and the king’s sons to go with him.
Absalom commanded his servants, ‘Pay attention, when you see Amnon drinking freely, I say to you,’ Kill Amnon, ‘and then you will kill him. Do not be afraid. Isn’t this what I ordered you to do? You just need to be brave and brave.
And Absalom’s servants did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded them. All the king’s sons got up, each riding on a mule and fled.
They were still on the way when news came to David that Absalom had killed all the king’s sons and left no one behind.
The king got up, tore his clothes, and lay on the ground. The king’s servants also tore their clothes and stood by.
David’s elder brother Jonadab, the son of Shimiah, said, “My lord, don’t think that all the king’s sons and young men have been killed, only Amnon has died.”. Since the day Amnon defiled Absalom’s sister Tamar, Absalom has determined to kill Amnon.
Now, my lord the king, do not take this matter to heart, thinking that all the king’s sons have died, and only Amnon has died.
Absalom fled. The young man guarding looked up and saw many people coming up from the road on the hillside.
Jonadab said to the king, “See, all the king’s sons have come, and it is indeed as your servant said.”.
After finishing speaking, all the king’s sons arrived and burst into tears. The king and his servants also wept deeply.
Absalom fled to Damai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. David mourns for his son every day.
Absalom fled to Geshur and stayed there for three years.
After the death of Amnon, King David was comforted and longed for Absalom in his heart.
