Samuel's note_Chapter 8
Afterwards, David attacked the Philistines, subdued them, and seized the power of the mother city from their hands.
And he attacked the Moabites again, causing them to lie down on the ground. He measured them with a rope, and those who measured two ropes were killed, while those who measured one rope remained. The Moabites surrendered to David and brought tribute to him.
Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, went to the Great River to reclaim his kingdom. David attacked him,
He captured 1700 cavalry and 20000 infantry, and cut off the hooves of the horses pulling the chariots, but left behind a hundred chariot horses.
The Arameans of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer of Zobah, and David killed 22000 Arameans.
So David set up garrisons in the land of Aram in Damascus, and the Arameans surrendered to him and brought tribute to him. Wherever David went, the Lord gave him victory.
He took the gold shield that the servants of Hadadezer had taken and brought it to Jerusalem.
King David also seized a large amount of copper from the cities of Bitha and Bilota, which belonged to Hadadezer.
King Toei of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer,
So he sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and bless him, because he had defeated Hadadezer. It turned out that Toei and Hadadezer were constantly at war. Joram brought vessels of gold, silver, and copper,
King David consecrated these vessels and the gold and silver he obtained from subduing various countries as offerings to the Lord,
It was obtained from Aram, Moab, Ammon, the Philistines, and the Amalekites, as well as from the plunder of Hadadezer son of Rehob king of Zobah.
David returned from killing 18000 Aram in the Salt Valley and gained great fame.
And he set up garrisons throughout all the land of Edom, and all the Edomites surrendered to David. Wherever David went, the Lord gave him victory.
David reigned over all Israel and upheld justice and righteousness towards all the people.
