At that time, the Philistines gathered their armies to fight against the Israelites. And Achish said to David, Know that you and your men will go to war with me.

David said to Achish, “The king will know what his servant can do.”. And Achish said to David, Thus I will make you my captain forever.

At that time, Samuel had already died, and all Israel mourned for him. He was buried in Ramah, which is in his own city. Saul once forbade any spirits or witches in the land.

The Philistines gathered and camped at Shunem. Saul gathered all Israel and camped in Gilboa.

When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid and his heart trembled.

Saul asked the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him through dreams or Urim or prophets.

Saul commanded his servants, ‘Find a woman who has a demon for me, so that I can go and ask her.’. My servants said, There is a woman in Endor who has a demon.

So Saul changed his attire, put on other clothes, and took the two of them to see the woman at night. Saul said, “Use the magic of a demon to bring up the dead whom I have told you.”.

The woman said to him, “You know that Saul cut off demons and witches from the land.”. Why did you frame my life and make me die?

Saul swore by the Lord to the woman, saying, As the Lord lives, you will not be punished for this matter.

The woman said, “Who will I bring up for you?”? Answer: Bring Samuel up for me.

When the woman saw Samuel, she shouted loudly and said to Saul, “You are Saul, why are you deceiving me?”?

The king said to the woman, “Do not be afraid. What have you seen?”? The woman said to Saul, “I see God coming up from the earth.”.

Saul said, What is his shape. The woman said, “There is an old man coming up, wearing a long robe.”. Saul knew it was Samuel, so he bent down and bowed with his face to the ground.

Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me and brought me up?”? Saul replied, “I am very embarrassed and anxious.”. Because the Philistines have attacked me, God has also left me and will no longer answer me through prophets or dreams. Therefore, please come up and instruct me on how to proceed.

Samuel said, “The Lord has left you and is against you. Why do you need to ask me?”?

The Lord has taken away the kingdom from your hand and given it to someone else, even David, as he said through me.

Because you did not obey the commands of the Lord. He was angry with the Amalekites, and you did not destroy them. Therefore, the Lord has done this to you today,

And the Lord will deliver you and the Israelites into the hands of the Philistines. Tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will deliver the army of Israel into the hands of the Philistines.

Saul suddenly fell and stood up on the ground, greatly afraid of Samuel’s words. That day and night without eating anything, I was powerless.

The woman came to Saul and saw that he was extremely frightened. She said to him, “My maidservant obeys your words and does not spare her own life. She obeys your commands.”.

Now please listen to the maid’s words and allow me to set some food in front of you. After you eat it, you can have the strength to travel.

Saul refused and said, I won’t eat. But his servants and women advised him repeatedly, and only then did he listen to their words, get up from the ground, and sit on the bed.

The woman quickly slaughtered a fat calf at home, and then kneaded it into unleavened bread and baked it,

Placed in front of Saul and his servants. They finished eating and got up that night to leave.
