Samuel I_Chapter 27
David thought to himself, “One day I will die at the hands of Saul. Why not flee to the land of the Philistines?”. When Saul sees that I am not within the territory of Israel, he will despair and no longer seek me. So that I can break free from his hands.
So David stood up and went with six hundred people who were with him to Achish son of Mah king of Gath.
David and his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelite and Abigail the Carmelite, who was the wife of Nabal, along with his men, all lived with Achish in Gath.
Someone told Saul that David had fled to Gath. Saul will no longer search for him.
David said to Achish, “If I find favor in your eyes, please give me a place to live in the cities outside the capital.”. Why do servants need to live with the king in Kyoto?
On that day, Achish gave Ziklah to him, so Ziklah belongs to the king of Judah until today.
David lived in the land of the Philistines for one year and four months.
David and his men went up and plundered the land of the Geshurites, the Gezeites, and the Amalekites. These tribes have always lived in that land, from Shur to Egypt.
David struck down the people of the land, leaving no man or woman behind. He also captured oxen, sheep, camels, donkeys, and clothing, and returned to Achish.
And Achi said, What place have you taken today? David said, I have taken the south of Judah, the south of Jerahmeel, and the south of Gini.
Regardless of gender, David did not leave any to bring to Gath. He said, “I’m afraid they will tell people about us, saying that David always did this when he lived in the land of the Philistines.”.
Aji believed in David and said in his heart, “David has made his people the Israelites hate him, so he will be my servant forever.”.
