Samuel I_Chapter 21
David arrived at Nob priest Ahimelech, and Ahimelech came out trembling to meet him. He asked him, “Why did you come alone without anyone to follow?”?
David answered the priest Ahimelech, saying, The king commanded me to do something, saying, Do not let anyone know that I have sent you to entrust this matter to you. Therefore, I have assigned young people to wait for me somewhere.
What do you have under your command now. Please give me five cakes or some other kind of food.
The priest said to David, “I have no ordinary bread under my command, only holy bread.”. If a young person does not have a close wife, they can give.
David said to the priests, “Truly, for about three days we did not approach a woman.”. When I came out, although it was an ordinary journey, the young man’s utensils were still clean. Besides, isn’t it even cleaner today?
The priest gave him holy bread. Because there was no other bread there, only the shewbread that had been replaced with new bread and removed from before the Lord.
On that day, a servant of Saul stayed before the Lord. His name is Doeg, an Edomite who was the chief shepherd of Saul.
David asked Ahimelech, “Do you have any guns or knives under your command?”. Because the king’s matter is very urgent, I didn’t even bring my swords and equipment.
The priest said, The sword that you killed Goliath the Philistine in the valley of Elah is here, wrapped in cloth and placed behind the ephod. Take it if you want. There is nothing else besides that. David said, there is no comparable sword. Please give it to me.
On that day, David got up and fled from Saul to Achish king of Gath.
And Achish’s servants said to him, Is not this David the king of Israel? The women there danced and sang, not pointing at him, saying that Saul killed a thousand, and David killed ten thousand?
David kept these words in his heart and was greatly afraid of Achish king of Gath,
He changed his usual behavior in front of everyone, pretending to be crazy under their command, scribbling on the door leaves of the city gate, causing saliva to flow on his beard.
And Achish said to his servants, Look, this man is insane. Why did you bring him to me?
Do I lack lunatics? Did you bring this person here to be crazy in front of me? How can this person enter my home?
