Samuel I_Chapter 13
Saul ascended to the throne at the age of forty. In the second year of his reign as king of Israel,
So he chose three thousand people from Israel, two thousand with Saul in Mimath and Mount Bethel, and a thousand with Jonathan in Gibeah in Benjamin. The rest of the people Saul sent back to their homes.
Jonathan attacked Geba, and the garrison of the Philistines heard it. And Saul blew the horn throughout the land, intending to make the Hebrews hear.
When all Israel heard that Saul was attacking the garrison of the Philistines, and that Israel was hated by the Philistines, they gathered together with Saul in Gilgal.
The Philistines gathered together to fight against the Israelites. They had 30000 chariots, 6000 horsemen, and as many infantry as the sand by the sea. They went up and camped in Mimath, east of Beth Aven.
When the people of Israel saw their own danger and distress, they hid in caves, jungles, caves, hidden places, and pits.
Some Hebrews crossed the Jordan River and fled to the land of Gad and Gilead. Saul was still in Gilgal, and the people followed him trembling.
Saul waited for seven days according to the date set by Samuel. Samuel had not yet arrived at Gilgal, and the people had also dispersed from Saul.
Saul said, Bring the burnt offering and the peace offering to me. So Saul offered a burnt offering.
Just as the burnt offering was over, Samuel arrived. Saul went out to greet him and wanted to greet him.
Samuel said, “What have you done?”? Saul said, Because I have seen the people scatter from me, and you have not come at the appointed time, and the Philistines have gathered in Mimath.
So I said in my heart, I’m afraid I haven’t prayed to the Lord. When the Philistines came down to Gilgal to attack me, I reluctantly offered a burnt offering.
Samuel said to Saul, “You have done something foolish and have not kept the commands that the Lord your God has given you.”. If you keep it, the Lord will establish your throne in Israel forever.
Your throne will not last long now. The Lord has found someone who suits his heart and appointed him as the ruler of the people, because you have not kept what the Lord has commanded you.
Samuel got up and went up from Gilgal to Gibeah in Benjamin. Saul numbered about six hundred people who followed him.
Saul and his son Jonathan, along with their people, lived in Geba in Benjamin. But the Philistines camped in Mimath.
A group of plunderers came out of the camp of the Philistines and divided into three groups. One group went to Ophrah towards the land of Shua,
One team is heading towards Bohelun, and the other team is heading towards the wilderness across from the valley of Zeboeing.
At that time, there was not a blacksmith in all of Israel. Because the Philistines said, “Perhaps the Hebrews will make swords and spears.”.
The Israelites went down to the Philistines to grind their hoes, plows, axes, and shovels.
But there are files that can be used to file shovels, plows, three toothed forks, axes, and ox cones.
So on the day of war, none of the people who followed Saul and Jonathan had swords or spears in their hands, only Saul and his son Jonathan had them.
A group of defense soldiers from the Philistines arrived at the pass of Mima.
