Romans_Chapter 4
So, what did our ancestor Abraham obtain through the flesh?
If Abraham is justified by his works, there is something to be praised. But there is nothing to praise in front of God.
What does the scripture say? Saying, Abraham believed in God, and this was counted as his righteousness.
The wages earned by those who work are not considered grace, but are rightful,
Only those who do not work believe in God, who justifies sinners, and their faith is considered righteous.
As David said, Blessed are those who are righteous by God beyond their works.
He said, Blessed is he who is forgiven for his faults and covers up his sins.
The Lord is not considered guilty, but this person is blessed.
So, is this blessing only given to the person who has been circumcised? Isn’t it also given to the uncircumcised person? For as we say, Abraham’s faith is counted as his righteousness.
How was it calculated? Was it during his circumcision? Was it when he was uncircumcised? Not during circumcision, but before circumcision.
And he was marked with circumcision as a sign of righteousness in faith when he was not circumcised, making him the father of all those who believed without circumcision, so that they may also be considered righteous.
He is also the father of circumcision, who not only underwent circumcision but also followed the path of our ancestor Abraham who believed in it without circumcision.
For God promised Abraham and his descendants that they would inherit the world, not through the law, but through faith.
If only those who belong to the law can become heirs, faith will become meaningless, and promises will be invalidated.
Because the law provokes wrath. Where there is no law, there is no transgression.
So it is based on faith that a person should be their heir. Therefore, it belongs to grace. Let the promise be given to all descendants. Not only to those who belong to the law, but also to those who follow the faith of Abraham.
Abraham believed in the God who raised the dead and made nothing into something, and he was the Father to us all before the Lord. As it is written, I have made you a father to many nations.
He was able to become a father to many nations when there was no hope, just as he had said before, your descendants will be like this.
When he was almost a hundred years old, although he thought of his body as dead and Sarah’s fertility cut off, his faith was still not weak.
And looking up to God’s promise, there was no doubt in my heart due to unbelief. But through faith, my heart is strengthened and I give glory to God.
And with full faith, the promises of God will be fulfilled.
So this is considered his righteousness.
This sentence, which can be considered as his righteousness, was not written solely for him,
It is also written for us to be considered righteous in the future. It is us who believe in God and raised our Lord Jesus from the dead.
Jesus was handed over to us for our sins, and his resurrection was for our righteousness. (Or Jesus delivered us up for our sins and was righteous and resurrected for us)
