Brothers, now I say to those who understand the law, Do you not know that the law governs people while they are alive?

Just as a woman has a husband who is still alive, she is bound by the law. If the husband dies, he will break free from his law.

So if her husband is alive and she belongs to someone else, she is called an adulteress. If her husband dies, she will break free from her husband’s law, and although she belongs to others, she is not an adulteress.

My brothers, in this way, you also died in the law through the body of Christ. To return you to others, to those who have been resurrected from the dead, so that we may bear fruit to God.

Because when we were in the flesh, the evil desires that arose from the law were aroused in our limbs, to the point where they bear fruit of death.

But since we have died in the law that bound us, we have now departed from the law, so that we may serve the Lord according to the new form of the soul, not according to the old form of the scriptures.

So, what can we say? Is the law a sin? Definitely not. But without the law, I do not know what sin is. Not according to the law, do not be greedy. I don’t know what greed is.

However, taking advantage of the opportunity, sin used the commandment to stir up all kinds of greed in me. Because without the law, sin is dead.

I used to live without the law, but when the commandment came, sin came back to life, and I died.

The commandment that originally called for life actually called for death.

Because sin took advantage of the opportunity to lure me and kill me through the commandment.

In this way, the law is holy, and the commandments are also holy, just, and good.

Since that’s the case, is the kind one calling me death? Definitely not. What calls me death is sin. But sin shows that it is truly sin by calling me death through that good one. It is extremely evil to make sin more manifest through the commandment.

We know that the law belongs to the spirit, but I am of the flesh and have been sold to sin.

Because of what I have done, I don’t understand it myself. I don’t do what I want. What I hate, I will do it instead.

If what I do is what I do not want, then I will accept that the law is good.

Therefore, it is not I who did it, but sin who resides within me.

I also know that there is no goodness within me, even within my body. Because I am determined to do good, but I cannot do it in my actions.

Therefore, I refuse to do the good that I am willing to do. I will do the evil that I do not want.

If I do what I do not want to do, it is not what I do, but what the sin that resides within me does.

I think there is a law that when I am willing to do good, evil will be with me.

Because according to the meaning inside me. I love the laws of God.

But I feel that there is another law in the body, which is at war with the law in my heart, taking me captive and making me conform to the law of sin in that body.

I am truly suffering, who can save me from this body that takes death?

Thanks to God, through our Lord Jesus Christ we were able to break free. It seems that I am obedient to God’s law with my heart. My body has obeyed the law of sin.
