Leviticus_Chapter 12

The Lord said to Moses,

Speak to the Israelites, saying, If a woman is pregnant and gives birth to a boy, she shall be unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean on the day of her menstrual period.

On the eighth day, the baby needs to be circumcised.

A woman who gives birth to blood and is unclean must stay at home for thirty-three days. She shall not touch the holy things, nor enter the sanctuary, until the days of her purification are fulfilled.

If she gives birth to a girl, she will be unclean for two to seven days, just like when she is unclean, and will be unclean for sixty six days in the process of giving birth to blood.

After the days of purity have been fulfilled, whether for boys or girls, she shall bring a one year old lamb as a burnt offering, a young pigeon or a turtledove as a sin offering, and deliver it to the priest at the entrance of the tabernacle of meeting.

The priest shall offer before the Lord to make atonement for her, and her blood shall be cleansed. This regulation is for women who give birth, whether they give birth to boys or girls.

If her strength is not enough to offer a lamb, she shall take two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. The priest shall make atonement for her, and she shall be cleansed.
